Do you believe watching watch anime is not normal?

As the title says, do you believe people who watch anime are not normal? I've been getting this insult a lot lately and have ceased to watch anime under the circumstance that it is something most people do not like, and to fit in with society I have stopped.

This is great example of a subjective topic where there really isn't a wrong or right answer. Who is to define what normal is? Who is to say what entities remain in the dimension of normal?

What I can tell you, is by the society I live in if there were a vote put up in which the majority dictates if your situation is normal or not, they would likely vote that it isn't normal to watch anime. I live in southern U.S. and most of the people where I live believe video games are still only for children.

My opinion though? I think they are weird shows. Does that make the people who watch it weird or "not normal"? Maybe. Maybe not, just depends on the viewer. But the act of watching anime itself in my eyes is weird, simply because its not something the people around me in my neck of the woods don't do.

anime haven't been in the "abnormal" category for a while now. OP the people who told you its not normal obviously have never watched honey boo boo or the likes otherwise they would plug their eyes out of their sockets.

anime are weird yes, but they are just as normal as people flying in the air kicking ten enemies down or 11 players kicking a ball around for the insatiable need of the fans, and I love all three of them.

There is much, much worse out there.

I don't see what could be wrong with watching anime. It's just like watching cartoons, sports, etc. If people think that's weird then I guess they're weird too for watching what they watch. People shouldn't judge others on what they like to do.

Watch what you want to watch, and it seems you might want to make a better class of friend. I don't care for it myself, but i have a friend that won't watch anything else. I damn sure don't judge her for it, but i will poke fun at her once in awhile. Big difference in poking fun at a good friend, and being an asshole.

Its a form of fiction, a way to project a story, not unlike that of a book, or a movie. Some people dont like, while some do. Dont force people who cant stand it into watching, it, but that dont means you to stop encouraging them to watch, not unlike you would recommend a work of fiction to one of your friends.

I for once cant stand the animes that portray Japanese schools as a simplified form of Japanese life in the Sengoku jidai era, with the cons and pros that come with it. I do however like the philosophical and controversial anime that would be impossible to illustrate using conventional means.

Only anime I've watched/am watching is Naruto. Wouldn't really see myself watch any other anime.

People watch Jersey/Geordie Shore, MTV, 16 and pregnant and other crap that literally makes you lose intelligence.

But watching Anime, that at least has a decent story and teaches you a couple words is obviously wrong.

Depends really, I fucking despise most anime under the grounds it's sickening fan service waffle that has roughly the same artistic merit as the dump I took earlier. On the other hand you have timeless works like some of Miyazaki's stuff. So yeah I'd say it totally depends on your taste and how much you're willing to engage with misogynist trash.

I watched a little bit of anime when I was like 8-12. Mostly just DBZ and Shaman King. I think it's fine watching the more action oriented ones as a kid. It becomes weird for me when it's people that are like 18+ watching the ecchi anime stuff with semi-naked girls that look 10.

Instead we should just focus on watching The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park as a culture. It'll help our intelligence grow with their thought-provoking themes, great mannerisms, and appropriate topics.

The Simpsons and South Park were groundbreaking social commentaries for western culture, they haven't been rivaled yet...
