Thread: RAM Question

    RAM Question

So I want to add some more ram but I'm not sure if this would work. I currently have 2 sticks of 4GB DDR3 1333mhz ram. If I wanted to add another stick of the same ram but only 1 stick of 4gb, would it work?

Yes it did, you need to know following things:
1)The dual channel architecture wouldn't work with 3 sticks.
2)You need to know how much RAM your Mobo supports (just give us the name of your mobo).
    3)The 3rd ram should be 1333mhz.
This would give you more memory but, due to #1 you will see performance decrease.
    PM me weird stuff :3

So would I be better off to get something like 2 sticks of 2GB?
Also my mobo is MSI Z87-G41

Are you in a situation where you're using all 8GB of RAM you currently have?

    ^This too.

The only reason to upgrade RAM is if you're finding that you're using all of it, or if you're wanting to upgrade to a faster RAM, but faster/better RAM isn't a very noticeable upgrade compared to upgrading a CPU or hard drive.
