Depends on the fight ofcourse, but shadow is in a really bad spot at the moment, if not the worst. Our single target DPS is a joke, our mulidot DPS is decent.

We are in the upper half in fights where we can get increased orb generation by hiting adds with Shadow Word: Death and gaing ToF uptime or multidot with Divine Insight. On the rest fights I am usually in the middle of pack. And sometimes during progress on heavy movement fights it can be really bad. So it's just average dps class this tier, having some advantages and some disadvantages. But it's still the most awesome class in WoW.

Despite what statistical sights may say, shadow all in all in not in a horrible spot. We may not be top tier for dps, but if you add the healing and dps numbers together we come close to what warlocks get for pure dps. Another thing to keep in mind is that since warlocks are the outlier at the moment, most progressing guilds are giving warlocks first choice, meaning they are also outgearing shadow at a faster rate, which only widens the gap. If you're raiding normals or less, shadow is fine. If you're looking to join a high end guild, for a pure dps slot, you'd probably be better off with warlock or mage. If you're filling a swap spot, disc/shadow priest, or enhance/resto shaman are probably your best bets.

Its easy to quote statistics. However, I can also quote Chinese, but it doesn't mean I know what it actually means. When it comes to statistics, you need to know the circumstances that generate those results. The context is extremely important, and the more you know about it, the better interpretation you can make.

If you know very little about what creates that graph, you might as well be reading Chinese (or some other language you're completely unfamiliar with)

Shadow Priests are by no means terrible at the moment.
As stated above, our single target is rather weak in comparison to pretty much every other class.
However, the number of single target fights in current raid content is minimal, the closest being Malkorok.

This is deceptively true. But if you ask "Which is the worst spec for progression fights" the answer is shadow priest, hands down. True, we're not "horrible"; no spec is "horrible" at the moment. But we're consistently subpar except on three fights (Immerseus, Protectors, Nazgrim) where the DPS requirement isn't remotely tight, we are rock bottom on fights where dps actually matters e.g. Thok, and we have exceptionally low damage potential on priority targets required during progression.

So no, we're not "horrible"; but yes, we're by far the worst DPS spec for progression raiding at the moment.

To say that shadow is decent at the moment would be in error using any sort of comparison to another class. Can you do the fights as shadow? Of course, there's nothing inherently stopping you from clearing everything as shadow. Would you prefer almost ANY other dps class in nearly EVERY scenario? Of course.

In fights where single target matters.....shadow is often bottom of the list.
In fights where cleaving/multidotting matters....dps doesn't particularly make a difference, so bringing an spriest who can run high-middle of the pack is not advantageous.
In fights where this concept of 'utility' might matter....it really doesn't; you can 'underheal' most of them.

Now, to address the concept of 'good dps'. No, its not. Inherently, when asking is class X good dps, that must compare it against others. You compare against classes that can perform the same functions. Spriest simply is a bottom-end option for single target and provides no real benefit for multi-dotting.

    TL;DR bad dps, play disc
