Looking for Upgrade Advice for my PC

Admittedly haven't done the best job keeping up with new technology so i'm reaching out for upgrade options for my PC as i'm currently lucky to get 10fps in raids.

    Here are my specs
CPU: AMD Athalon 7750 Black Edition Model 2 Core Speed 2999.84 MHz

Motherboard: FOXCONN A7GM-S Chipset AMD 780G

    RAM: 4G DDR2 400MHz

    Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 9800 GT

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 G 80 Plus Gold

    OS: Windows 7

    Resolution: 1920x1080

    WoW Settings on Low

I've got about 400-500 dollars to invest into this project and hoping to get the best bang for my buck.
These are the upgrades i would do based on research ive done, but perhaps you all know something i dont.

    CPU: AMD FX-6300 Approx $120-$150
    MBoard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 ATX-AM3+ Approx $100
GPU: EVGA 650ti Boost Approx $150

    Total Approx $370

Thanks for your input on this, really very much appreciated.

    Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Pro3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($94.99 @ Newegg)
    Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($72.25 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7790 1GB Video Card ($94.99 @ Newegg)

The intel i5 will give you much better performance for wow than you will get with any AMD. You also have to buy new ram as your old stuff is too old to reuse.

AMD cpu's have fallen behind the Intel as of late. Unless you have personal preference for AMD CPu's then @phred754 build will do. I would suggest this though:

Get his build but keep your old GPU:

Then when you save up some money, buy r9 270x for ~215$

For wow your current CPU is the biggest issue, the 9800GT will handle medium at around 40ish in raids I guess? I had old 5570HD and played on medium for ~30FPS. At any rate if you still find the performance lacking after i5, you can buy the 7790HD. At any rate holding on buying new GPU won't hurt
    PM me weird stuff :3

if u dont see yourself having money for a new graphic card sometime soon, u might consider this build. it will play all newer games on high (ultra) and will have no trouble playing wow on High/ultra during 25 man raiding.

So as per usual life gets in the way of my gaming addictions and the money i had set aside for this revamp has gone to... well we wont get into that... anyway was wondering if i could upgrade my processor to Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core without replacing the Mboard and RAM until funds allow for that.

Nope you can't. It doesn't fit your motherboard. Any Haswell motherboard isn't compatible with DDR2 RAM either, so you'll have to change that as well.

    That answers that, Thanks!!

Having read your topic more, you could go for something like this, which is pretty much how much the 4670k would be alone.

    CPU: Intel Core i3-4330 3.5GHz Dual-Core Processor ($132.97 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($42.98 @ Newegg)

That'll do it as an upgrade for the things you listed, and it'll perform better than what you asked for. Whenever you get the extra funds you can put them towards an extra 4GB of RAM and possibly a new GPU (and by that time either the 750ti or even the maxwell series will be out, which could be rather interesting for your budget range).
