Hello everyone!
As a part of a research I would like to ask your opinion on a simple matter: if you could choose what kind of gameplay balance you would like to see in most programs: prefect balance or perfect imbalance?
Perfect balance is exactly like chess: A, B and C are equally strong, the game i bound by the same rules. While it is very balanced it is also rigid, resulting in memorizing certain strategies in certain cases to lead you to victory and there is little room for innovation.
Perfect imbalance is something we need in moba games and maybe even in WoW or HS. A maybe is stronger than B or C thus everyone play with it. This leads to people trying to perfect a strategy against A with B, and if they succeed then B will be dominant and A who was previously strong will seem to be the weak one, until people find out how to control B with C and the cycle continues.
So then again the question: which one would you prefer in games?
