Has expertise and hit been broken for anyone else in arenas or duels or anything? Im capped with both and im getting parried and missed attacks alot lol i got parried 5 times in row by a warrior with no die by the sword active.
Also expertise capped (well over, I'm sitting at around 7.2% for PVP) and I still get parried quite frequently.
I never miss, but it seems most plate are able to parry around 25% of my attacks.
DPS DKs in Blood Presence are the worst. I'm not entirely sure if it increases their parry or not but it seems DKs are on the top of my parried list.
There's no expertise cap. There's a soft cap of 6% for parries / 3% for dodge but barely anyone has that these days. Warriors have around 22% parry, death knights have around 26%, ferals and rogues have about 30% dodge.
If you're talking about missing then it's probably white attacks that have a high miss chance through dual wield, beyond that yellows shouldn't miss with 4% hit.
Yeah you won't ever be "expertise capped" against a lot of classes, (ww monks included). This is why it's important to try to get behind your opponent when you can and/or deal massive dmg (pop cds) when they're stunned and you're guaranteed to land your abilities.
I'm seeing the same thing when i play my ww. But for some reason my warrior don't. I've got about 6% exp on both, but still my warrior does never see a game with 25% of the attacks getting dodged or parried, but ww always hade atleast 20% of his attacks dodged or parried. A friend of mine, also on his ww, is saying the same thing. Dunno If there's a bug here or not, but sure feels like it. I've rolle Hunter now. Got fed up with all them parries and dodges. Now i don't see any :P almost Seems like my arrows can't be dodged :P
Hit is hard-capped at 3%. For expertise, there is no technical cap. For monks, feral druids, rogues and plate classes that allow agility/strength to give them dodge/parry, you'd need to reach nearly 15% to hard-cap it.
3% for expertise is the soft cap. 6% will allow a soft-cap on parry, but like I said, against DKs and whatnot who gain parry from strength, it won't be possible to hard-cap and be viable with other secondary stats.
For awhile now I've been thinking that parry/dodge in pvp is glitched. I've tracked it in some duels as a test and there were occasions that upwards of 70% of my special attacks were parried/dodged when abilities like evasion and Die by the sword were not used. I've had my jab on my monk parried so many times before that my expel harm generated more Chi during the duel. I've had my Rip on my feral druid parried so many times that a full duration savaged roar expired before i could get it up.
It's possible it IS a bug, actually. We know they don't test pvp to the same degree as pve (hunter quad damage bug, etc), and some testing situations are impossible for players to generate.
To test, you'll need three compliant folks. The four of you queue up a wargame 2v2, and you wail into the suspected bugged parrier. Run recount, and just tunnel him like a target dummy whilst he is healed. Try doing it several ways- it's possible that, for instance, the hit table glitches out with an opponent moving in a certain way.
I don't THINK it's bugged, but I have certainly seen situations where I just can't land a damned thing and it's not the credit of the opponent. Random is random, but testing could help figure out if that's all there is to it.
Probably RNG. My ret pally has like 35% parry chance with dancing steel and trinkets procs up. Unbuffed it's around 25%. This is the same for warriors and DKs.
Unholy DKs are a different story. They have 35% increased str as spec passive, along with Rune of the Fallen Crusader, for an additional 15%. Add trinkets on top of that and they probably get like 45% parry with procs up, maybe even more.
Agility classes get dodge instead, with similar amounts. Sub rogues are the unholy DKs of dodge. They have Sinister Calling spec passive that gives them 30% bonus agility.
All in all, melee classes indeed have very high parry/dodge these days. Unless you are very good at staying behind the enemy, expect to miss a lot of attacks.
