Ganking on a PvP server: Is it okay?

When I say ganking, im saying a large level disparity. So more than 10 levels where the one doing the ganking is a skull and ?? to the one being ganked.

Is this practice okay in your eyes, especially since its on a PvP server?

Is it okay to gank someone while they are pet battling?

What is your stance on this?

Killing someone once is ok. Camping someone's corpse and/or actively hunting and killing them after they spawn is being a jerk.

Well I said "okay" to this when I chosed a PvP serv, even though that's anoying I don't mind much.

If we're talking about and this is from my perspective. If it's at your level, fair game I suppose. If it's grey, no point or low level. If you keep going after them, well you're being an ass. Again please note this is my perspective not Blizzard's rules.

I'm in the top server world pvp guild.

I purposefully sortie out to gank rerolls of our opposing guilds to force them out of their capitals so as to kill their mains and screenshot it for the forum wars that occur.


I don't give a toss about killing lower levels for any other reason, so I'll usually leave them alone unless their name offends me.

It happens. I have been ganked numerous times. Just my bad luck a high level character was around.

Camping however, that is different.

I almost never kill lowbies.
But if they rolled an hunter or a warrior, i'm gonna camp them.

I remember getting ganked by a lv 70 when I was leveling though STV....I got help after asking in /1 and 2 lv 70's came down and scared him away.

I saw that player again (remembered him cause it was the first time I was ever camped) at level 80 and I camped him for about an hour till he made an alliance alt to /w me and abuse me, when I explained why I was doing it, he said it was different cause I was better geared.....to which I replied "and a 35 level gap is fair?"

On topic, killing them once is fine, camping it being a jerk. Bring back the old days where if you were struggling on an elite (bangalash for example) the high level would help you kill the mob, then kill you. That was when there was a community in the game

No issue with it at all, it's part and parcel of a PvP server.

If anything it makes leveling more enjoyable for me, the constant fear of it happening, hiding as a level 90 flies nearby, trying to escape (usually unsuccessfully) as I ressurect

Asking if it's OK for 10+ to kill lowbies, big difference. Unless you think it's the the same in case you're lost already.

It's OK once or more depending on how many times they ganked your alts, if they didn't gank your alts it's OK once at max. Luckily people who corpse camp low levels usually suck so it's a free kill when you bring main.

Yes it is "okay", its within the rules and anyone joining a PvP server should know those risks, if they don't that is their fault.

However, depending on the severity of the ganking, like say corpse camping or something else, it is still okay, just really distasteful.

If it's red, it's dead. Camping is in general poor taste, but still "fair game" in my books though.
