"Upgrading" your class - Class-Specific Quest Idea

I just wanted to impose an idea that I was thinking about yesterday night when I was thinking about future expansions and things they could redo or rework to make the playing experience better, and this idea came into my head. As you may know, World of Warcraft has been going on for 10 years, and since the characters that we play as have experienced what like 5 years of heroic deeds defending Azeroth, youd think theyd be more than just an above average hero who is good at what they do.

Now in future expansions we are gonna have to deal with super powerful beings such as Sargeras, the entire Burning Legion, Azshara etc. and although we have stopped the Lich King, Deathwing, and Kil'Jaden (spelling), these foes arent as strong as whom we shall face in the future.

Which brings me to the idea behind an expansion-long questline for each class (also no Legendary item to be obtained if they follow this guideline) in which you upgrade your character, make them more powerful, in order to combat the Legion and any other army we must face. Im thinking along the lines of bumping up their status, which I will elaborate on in the next paragraph, in which the questline upgrades the users abilities and powers in each patch leading up to the final patch in which they master their class.

The idea I had, which will be easiest to explain by using another class position within the Mage Society, that would be equivalent to moving to Arch-Mage status. Im saying for each class they have a long and difficult questline that shall help the character prepare for that expansion.

For instance I'll use mage first: Since we heading to Draenor, Khadgar has believed he must train apprentiance after what happened in Warlords of Draenor (since it leads into the next expansion following it) and believes another powerful being is needed to help wage war that will becoming. Agreeing with both the Kirin Tor and Dalaran, they agree they must train the heroes mastering the arts of the magii in which to make them more powerful. You must collect mystical artifacts from Draenor and kill super monsters, similar to the guy you had to fight in the Warlock Green Fire quest that proves you are worthy of the training and the title.

Each class would have one of those long questlines going over the course of the Expansion. I cant really think of all the positions someone would have or who would train them for each side so he we go:

Warrior: Warmonger. Taught by High Overlord Varok Saurfang (Horde) and someone else for Alliance.
Paladin: Highlord of the Light. Taught by Tirion Fordragon. Helped by Maraad.
Hunter: ???. Alleria Windrunner (Alliance). Rexxar (Horde).
Rogue: Ruler of the Shadows. Wrathion or Garona (Horde) and Maiev Shadowsong (Alliance).
    Priest: Archbishop. Velen
    Deathknight: "Lich King". Darion Mograine
Shaman: Elder of the Earthen Ring. Thrall
    Mage: Archmage. Khadgar
    Warlock: ???. ???
Monk: ???. Taught by each of the Celestials.
    Druid: Archdruid. Malfurion Stormrage; Cenarius

If you like the concept you can change the Titles .

Since this also just an expansion wide quest series, you also get a title and garb for completing it as it wont be necessary for future expansions as this will be considered the "Legendary" questline of the expansion.

This in particular would just create more tedious stuff to be balanced for PvP. Make it for flavor, that being the title and set. Maybe some mounts. But no "power-up" for your character besides maybe a single item or spell, or something.

I guess maybe remove the PvP concept by nerfing the abilities like they did with the stuff you got in MoP such as not having the procs occur within battlegrounds and arenas

The only way i could see this idea working its off our was like an area specific buff, which kinda takes away from the archmage/druid feel. Would be too difficult to implement otherwise

great idea, but sadly it's not possible, what about people who level a warrior after the expansion is over? they will have to do the whole questline again? or they will get free bost to warmonger?

The problem is certain titles are more suited to certain races.

    - Warriors should either be Blademasters (Orcs) or Mountain Kings (Dwarves). Warmonger to me seems a little... meh. A Protection Warrior wouldn't be a Warmonger, Arms and Fury yes but not really Prot.

    - Archdruid is okay, but I don't really see Worgen and Trolls as Archdruids.

    - The problem with Hunter is that titles like "Ranger" are almost entirely tied to High/Blood Elves. Likewise, titles like Stalker/Tracker aren't thematic with MM. [Name], Son/Daughter of the Wilds is about as neutral as I can think but that's still skewed towards BM/Surv over MM.

    - Rogue sounds a little meh, and it doesn't really fit Combat who typically don't fight around Stealth.

    - Highlord is enough, though it leaves Holy a little lacking as Highlords are typically depicted as Melee (Bolvar, Fordring, Mograine). They excel at using the Light but they're not particularly examples of "Holy" Paladins. I would kill for Highlord on my Ret, however.

    - Archbishop is... okay? I guess. It suits Humans and Undeads (Undeads less so as you're talking about becoming an Archbishop, rather than once being one) and Worgen to a point (Same concept), but why would a Night Elf be a Archbishop? or a Tauren for that matter? Archbishop is a title almost wholly affiliated with the Church of Light. Not to mention Shadow doesn't really blend with Archbshop well, as they're more inquisitors than Bishops.

    - "Lich King", no thanks. Next thing you'll see is people asking for shaman to be "World Shaman", something that is beyond the player's scope of power. Scourgelord would be more fitting, as we've seen Scourgelords before and they're usually powerful Death Knights leading important missions.

    - Shaman is another difficult one because Shamanism is different for several races; Tauren and Orcs find spiritual leadership through Shaman, while Troll Shamans are more akin to Witchdoctors. Shaman aren't a huge part of Draenei culture, they play no major role in their races' progression, same as Dwarves. Goblins are just completely different. So a title like yours would make sense, but compared to some other titles it's a little bland. There's already an "Elder" title in-game, it would be like adding a title for 1000 Random Dungeons of "the Extremely Patient", there's just not enough between them to really define the new one.

    - Archmage is another racially thematic issue. Up until now, only Humans and Elves are shown to be Archmages. Nothing else really makes sense, though you could make the case that you are being established as a full Archmage within the Kirin Tor or the Sunreavers, and that you are paving the way for your race to be more widespread within each faction. Another alternative could be Kalec taking an interest in you, he is still a powerful Blue Dragon and a respected Mage. Something like "Kalecgos' Hope" or something else to do with the Blue's.

    - Warlocks would probably have something Fel or Demon related, maybe something to do with their outcast nature. As for suggestions, I'm drawing a blank without turning to something like "the Legion's End" or ", Sargeras' Bane" and so on.

    - Monks would definitely have something to do with the Celestials, as they define each of the specs and aspects regarding Monks. As for titles, you can't have something like ", Xuen's Might" or "Chi-Ji's Hope". They exclude other specs while specialising in one. So it would have to be something general like ", the Celectial Champion".

As for being stronger classes, no. It's not really a choice or something that makes a quest line like this special if it's mandatory to have. The idea behind these should be the challenge, like Green Fire was a challenge when it first came out for alot of people.
