Stat gear change - great for off tanks!

I've read about mixed feeling players were having about the stat changes on armor in WoD, however with queues being as long as they are I think it would be a really good change as players whom usually dps, they can now queue as tanks without rehearing, it will give a boost to those players whom play dos classes that are intimidated by tanking a chance to try the role without having to re-gear.

sure it can bring a lot of bad tanks into the mix, but that learning curve is there already.

I for one would love to go from lets say a feral druid to a guardian just by swapping a spec,
same thing for monks, dos, and warriors… all of a sudden there are way more tanks out there and queue times are shorter.

    I don't even think a gem/enchant swap is necessary.

    what do you think?

Most classes can already just switch over to a tank spec and do just fine with it.

Paladins, for example, want haste > mastery for prot.. And Ret. The only difference is that crit is pretty useless for prot, and for ret it's only mildly horrendous. Similar situations apply for most, if not all, classes.

That's one of the biggest benefits to dropping dodge/parry and hit/expertise, yes. Reforging and regemming while wearing the same gear anyway was always annoying. Especially as a Monk or Catbear who had to be expertise capped because they don't have any skills that "always hit."
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

Actually, for most Rets in SOO gear, Mastery and Crit are about equally rated. And given that crit also works for heals, crit isn't a horrible stat for Prots either, since a lot of our mitigation is based on self heals. Crit's above dodge/parry, anyway, such that both are Haste>Mastery>Crit once past Hit/Exp caps.

Every expansion they make changes to the game which remove gear/stat barriers to tanking, but it doesn't encourage more players to take it up. The simple problem is just that tanks get a hard time in random groups, so people don't like doing it. Most people prefer to dps where other people are less likely to type angry at them.

IMO Blizzard need to solve it by giving dps players more things to worry about and more ways to die in a single hit from doing stupid things like charging ahead and pulling aggro

You can tank in DPS gear, this will not mean there will be more tanks.

This is ultimately the result of having Mastery be a spec-specific secondary stat.
