    I put the full output in because I want you to notice the effective CD of adrenaline rush and killing spree, and also note the number of uses over a 450sec fight. Using EA every 30 seconds results in a 2 second shorter effective cd on adrenaline rush and ~0.3-0.4sec shorter effective cd on killing spree, for an additional 0.5 uses of AR and no real difference on killing spree.

    Look man, when I stumbled on this (from trying to figure out who to sunder in my own raid group by simming our characters and actual dps) it seemed as counterintuitive to me as it does to you. I'm a scientist by trade. I don't question the results and write them off, I try to understand why the results are what they are. Could the problem be simc's modeling? Sure, but if their modeling of armor is off, then so is every other utility and they would need to go back to the drawing board.

    It may be worth finding out how often you need to cast expose armor before the opportunity cost of sinister strike (and its associated effects, such as BG advancement) starts to become too high.

    Does EA actually trigger MG and poison procs? Most of the code looks fine, but I was under the impression EA didn't trigger procs.

    EA does not trigger MG or Poison procs. It does trigger RPPM events, but those don't really matter.

    What's going on at line 1472 then? Looks like it's initializing values in the struct for other methods to check for and use. Specifically, it looks like it's registering EA as a MH attack (the comment specifically says for triggering poisons) instead of just an aura application, but I'm no SimC expert and could easily be reading it wrong.

    I think you may be right, Pathal. I had never looked at the EA code as I never had a need to, but In setting a priority list of nothing but autoattacks, and then nothing but autoattacks and EA, the result was *significantly* more MG/poison procs on the EA. So it appears as though it IS a case of simc modelling EA wrong. That was something I had not thought to verify.

    That's slightly disappointing. This almost looked like a fountain of newfound dps. I managed to make a profile 20k dps above the default by incorporating Expose Armor with a couple parameters.

    But nope. Just a bug.

    Well someone should still verify whether or not EA triggers MG and poisons in game for thoroughness' sake. I get the feeling that if it triggers either mechanic, it won't for long though.

    Oh, my original response was responding to whether they proc in game. I can confirm that EA does not proc either of those.

    I did by simply setting EA as a primary combo builder at low energy.

    So what this is suggesting is that if we're not in danger of capping energy we should be doing expose armor regardless if it's up or not? Because 'a minimal amount of times' doesn't stand up as a mathematical reason, as it's either a gain or a loss compared to SS (depending of course on more variables, such as trinket procs or insight level which obviously shift in favour of sinister strike).

    If this proves true, it could be nice to actually use EA as an 'insight buffer' in order to use cooldowns always at deep insight since it doesn't advance bandit's guile, more simming is in order. (and a fix for that MG/poison bug indeed before we do any of that)

    Heck, now that I think of it, to try and make bandit's guile and restless blades better synergized they could be introducing a builder not advancing bandit's guile, it would be fun to see how that pans out.

    Harder to say now exactly how much of a gain (it will still be a gain) it is to apply it yourself, but having someone else apply it is around a 3% dps increase last I recall.

    This is a really interesting line of thinking. Do we have any estimate for the relative values of 1 combo point (outside AR/SB) against the difference in damage between SS and EA?

    ...although fixing the poison/MG bug in SimC and running it there sounds easier.

    I had originally assumed that the cheap combo point in addition to the benefit from sunder is what made it worthwhile for the rogue to use. Using expose as a primary combo builder was not what I was expecting. I figured it was due to the 25e per cp interaction of expose interacting with RB, but you need to SS to advance BG.

    There COULD be merit to using SS to advance to moderate and holding at moderate with EA if waiting on cds, but I suspect the gain won't be worth the effort. I submitted a ticket to simc and got an email saying that it's been fixed. If someone else wants to explore this feel free. A recent dev build of simc has addressed the issue (I submitted an issue last night).

    Attempting to have a look into this. However, having only ever used the GUI before, how does one get the command line to utilise more of the cpu than standard? Currently a 1k sim takes me over 5 minutes.

    I then tested using expose armor at any point during moderate insight if adrenaline rush was due to come off CD within 10,15 and 20 secs. No significant difference.

    Tested using expose armor at 11 stacks of bandits guile (just before you go into deep insight) with the same cd on adrenaline rush. No significant difference.

    However, when testing again at low energy levels, the following came through:

    What's odd is that there's more MG and poison procs still, according to the damage breakdowns, but then again there is an increase in white swing attacks if the the difference in AR+SB CD is noticeable. Sinister Strike is the only thing that loses actions per second.

    Perhaps the shift to 50e SS had some play in this? Seems like there might be an increase in EA cost (to 35 or so) if this holds true. I'm not aware of anything else that could be bugged right now.

    Just prioritise sinister strike if insight duration < 3 else expose armor with conditions above else sinister strike. i unfortunately haven't had time to do it yesterday so thanks for all the work.

    Yeah, I've been using something akin to that, but there was almost no change. However I was adding all the conditions on to expose armor rather than an additional sinister above it with that going on. I'll try your method when I get back from lunch if others haven't already.

    This sounds like a tentative confirmation of my suspicions that CPPE could pull ahead of direct DPE when you're not energy capped, even if extending insight is less significant. I doubt Blizzard would let this remain true, but it'd be really interesting. I assume the extra .3 ARs and .6 KS casts in the fight are responsible, so the benefit would likely increase or vanish based on fight length.
