    Help Upgrading Computer please.

So I am currently leveling my 85's on my laptop that has just onboard graphics with some sort of a i3 processor and 6 gigs of ram. I am suprised I can level with no issue's at 70 on all low setting so I am pleased! However, I am bringing back my old desktop computer from my mom's in march. The only specs I can remember is it having 4 gigs of ram and hd radeon 6870 graphics card..with a 10 year old mobo, Power supply, and CPU and case. I want to build a PC that I can save some money in the present by hopefully re-ussing the case and hopefully the power supply and potentially the ram once I find out what it is. I know I need a new CPU because it bottlenecked my 6870 it was so old and I also need a new MOBO. So can anyone help me out with finding a good MOBO to go with the i5 3570k I plan on getting and using with my 6870 until I have the cash to upgrade my GPU as well.

Is the i5 3570k overkill? I just plan on playing with a 1 monitor full 1080p setup on ultra for WoW, CS:GO, Diablo 3 and MAYBE titanfall.

    Any help is appreciated.

Honestly, outside of the GPU, it sounds like a complete system overhaul. The RAM likely won't be compatible, nor the power supply.

Fill out This Sticky information so we can better figure it out.

Sounds like you won't be over locking, so you could save some money by picking up an i5 3570, same processor, just can't be over locked.
One of my favourite mobos is the Asus p8z77-v. Simple, has pretty much every feature you could ask for, and affordable.

You'll more than likely need a new PSU, as well as ram. I suggest getting the exact specs, then coming back. Seems like it could all just be scrapped though, other than the GPU.

I probably also wouldn't bother with the 3570K, in an effort to save money, I'd opt for an i3-4330 and (maybe) a Z87 board, to upgrade later.. though honestly if you get an i3 now, you probably won't upgrade until Broadwell, and will need a new board anyway.

I looked into the 3570, but I can get the 3570k brand new at Microcenter in Boston for only 179.99 so I figured I can't go wrong when its 20-30 bucks cheaper. sadly they don't sell the 3570 there in store so w/e or I'll go with the i3-4330 and upgrade later. But you all are right, I am gonna need a new processor, mobo, ram and psu it seems. At least I can save some $ with having a graphics card and case and upgrade later on that side.

The i3-4340 (Microcenter doesnt have a 4330 it seems?) is $140, and will be better than the i5-3570. Alternatively, the i3-4130 will be about neck and neck... At $100. Personally I'd go cheaper >.>

Get the CPU/motherboard from Microcenter, to knock a fair amount off when you collect it, and that comes to under $550. You can use the graphics card you have for now (it'e better than mine, and I can play Wow on 1080p medium with the Pentium G3430.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am gonna go for the i3 4140 or the 4130. I usually splurge, but this time I am gonna hold off. No point for the games I'll be playing ( wow and csgo on only 1080p). thanks for the help! I got windows 8 too, so for 400 bucks I should be set. Thanks again.
