Will Tanaan Jungle be the starting zone?

If the Dark Portal is located in Tanaan jungle, shouldnt that be the starting zone?
I mean why would we split up to Frostfire Ridge and Shadowmoon Valley if Blasted Lands portal takes us to Tanaan Jungle?

We start out there for an intro and then head to the two other places.

    It's an altered Dark Portal.

Because you're thinking in terms of "we start here with a quest hub and hang out." That's not the case. We go in, destroy the portal and are spirited away to help our allies in need. Those two areas are our starting zones for that reason.
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

Horde starting location is with the frostwolves in frost fire ridge i think, and alliance start with vhelen in the temple of karabor in shadowmoon valley.

Once on Draenor, you’ll face the might of great orc warlords like Grommash Hellscream and Kilrogg Deadeye, who command a legion of 10,000 orcs from Draenor’s united clans—but you won’t have to take on this desperate mission alone. The great draenei champion Vindicator Maraad will accompany the Alliance through the portal, while the Horde will go through backed by Thrall. Your strike on Draenor is practically a suicide mission, but if you can destroy the portal from the other side, you’ll buy your faction—and Azeroth—some much-needed time. . . .

All level-90 players will begin in the Tanaan Jungle, and for newly boosted level-90 characters, the experience will be tailored to help you get up to speed and ready for taking on the challenges to come. Instead of gaining all of your skills and abilities right away, you’ll be able to unlock them as you progress and learn your way around your more powerful character—and you’ll need every ounce of your ability to stop the Iron Horde and continue your campaign on Draenor.

Once the threat at the Dark Portal has been (temporarily) dealt with, Alliance and Horde players will take divergent paths. Each will answer the call of their new allies to engage the native threats of the world and mount a long-term defense against the Iron Horde. (Source)
The intro is just around the Dark Portal and about shutting it down. We go back later for the rest of the zone when they try to rebuild it.

it's the highest level pexxing zone I believe.

Its likely a phased area. From what I can gather you destroy the dark portal as the opening quest line and head off to your faction starting zone. You come back at 100 and they are rebuilding it.

Seems like we'll go into a phased, or atleast very small section, of Tanaan, with Thrall/Maraad, while rescuing Drek'thar/Yrel and then going to our proper starting zones, Frostfire Ridge (Horde)/Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance).

Hmm, shades of BC where you start behind Legion lines at the portal and fly to your respective faction's zone base.

Considering that Blizz gets better and better at events and set-pieces with every expansion, dropping us in front of the Iron Horde is bound to be awesome.

Agreed, definitely looking forward to that. They mentioned something about a dk like starting zone for instant 90s, but we will probably;y end up going there as well. I imagine it will take 30-60 minutes of action packed questing ala dk starting zone.

Sounds like we succeed in taking down the portal, and then go off with our new friends on Draenor.

Chances are by the time we return to Tanaam (probably 98) they are building a new portal.

Nope, the Iron Horde Dark Portal is where the BC Dark Portal is, albeit under construction and Iron Horde themed. When we enter Draenor we blow it up and strand ourselves there and mess around on Tanaan for a few hours before heading to Frostfire or Shadowmoon. Tanaan is going to be a level 100 zone otherwise.

And then Mages miraculously learn how to teleport between timelines and aid everyone in traveling back and forth.

Unless we're truly going to be on Draenor for the entire xpac.

Trying to help confirm this --

I don't remember where I saw it and I can't provide proof, but I do remember seeing/reading that tanaan jungle is the last zone. I believe it's 98-100, and the only one like that.

    Gameplay =/= Lore

They can't just strand us from the rest of the game, but we're supposed to be trapped in there.

Technically, we were stranded on Pandaria until 5.2, so it's not too far fetched. Besides, it's not too different of a concept as teleporting to and from Outland anyways.
