Question Looking for raid - loot theory?

So, i have no idea if this have already been made but here it comes.

When doing LFR (Looking for raid) and etc. i have 2 specs im gearing for with my paladin, holy and retri.

When i encounter a boss with more possible retri loot than holy loot (etc. 3 retri pieces, 1 holy piece).. does that makes my chances of getting retri gear from that boss higher, than getting that single holy gear piece or would it be the same odds? Not sure how the LFR loot and roll system works..

Anyone that might be able to answer me on this?

From what I've read, this is not how the "personal loot" system works.

Basically, when the boss dies, the game automatically performs a "roll" to determine if you receive loot at all.

If you win the roll, the game will then roll again to determine which loot you get based on your specialization.

Let's say you have a 20% chance to win loot. Whether the boss drops 100 ret pieces or 1 ret piece, you still have a 20% chance to win any loot.

You can set loot type drops by clicking on your character icon and then choosing "Loot specialization" to Holy or Retribution, then you will keep recieving loot based on that selection.
Wearing specific items does not affect your loot drop.

The only time having your loot set to one spec over another has any difference is if you're looking for a specific piece that drops from both (tier tokens). Your chance of getting loot is the same no matter what. Your chance of getting a specific piece is better if there are less options. For instance, the Sha of Fear in ToES didn't have a Holy Paladin drop other than the tier hat. If you wanted the tier hat, you could switch to holy loot spec. If you won a piece of gear, you were sure to get the token instead of a weapon you might already have.

Yeah you can defo manipulate the system a bit especially for Tier Tokens.

This add one really helps so you don't need to keep remember to change your loot specialisation all the time.

It does. it makes the game drop the item you are already wearing again and again and again!

The amount of items does not change your drop chance. Best thing to do, is prior to a boss take a look at the loot of the next boss.
