It doesn't matter if you think it's a good idea. The people making the game think it's a good idea. Being an IT guy, I agree with them doing it. Maybe you want literally every boss of the expansion to pull the Garrosh healing nonsense 16 times per fight, but few if anyone at all do, including the developers.

without the item squish wows combat engine will break and you wont be able to play . It will take a long while to sort the combat engine out as it is entwined with te rest of the wow engine , so you have two choices , item squish or no game for a year or so --take your pick

I personally love the squish. Numbers were getting way too big.

So, wait -- if this removes those power jumps, what happens to the raid gear from older levels ? Is every level 70 epic the same ilvl ??

Of the various things that have been said about stat squishing, reducing the jumps between new expansions/tiers is definitely not and never has been even for a moment even in the slightest tiniest ambiguous way one of them.

If it was a 32 bit engine it would have ceased to function long ago.

Possibly, or it could just be the gap will close when they squish the expansion down.

The whole reason the jumps were so huge is that ICC gear had to be significantly stronger than ToC gear, which had to be significantly stronger than Ulduar gear, and so on. Since you no longer progress through those instances, that's no longer the case, so there may be only a couple of ilevels difference between them.

But the important part is that it doesn't matter. Even if ICC gear lasts you all the way to level 85, it's irrelevant because ICC stopped being part of the progression path once Cataclysm came out. So for example, the ilevels may be such that ICC gear is roughly equal to level 85 quest gear. You COULD grind through ICC and be horribly overpowered leveling through Cataclysm... but nobody's going to do that since it would take much longer than just leveling normally.

Fucking hell this thread is a 50/50 mix of idiots with no clue commenting and the rest correcting them. I wish people would just read up on stuff and understand it before mouthing off.

This thread went insane. People just can't stand a dissenting opinion. Why are you all so angry?

it's all good up until level 100 where the stats are increasaing too much and it gets out of control from right there.

This is human nature. The majority here agree that this is a "good change" in their view. They can't possibly see the other side view.

If big numbers are important to you (not me, I prefer smaller numbers, easier to work with) then there are addons and script commands that increase the numbers.
If I recall there was a script command called gold to silver ratio or something like that, that multiplied your gold shown, it didn't actually increase, it just looked higher.
I think there must be something like that for stats and damage.

I think the squish would also put less strain on the servers just due to the sheer numbers being lower.

And guess what? It turns out that this wasn't true. Watcher tweeted about it just today. They were just willing to say anything to sell the squish to people.

I think that since it was first discussed in Cata (or before) there must've been hundreds of thousands of pages of threads devoted to discussing this.

But when it happens it will have zero impact on your experience of the game. Shrug.

I don't think that's correct. They said that if they'd done it in Cata their projections showed they wouldn't have to do it again for 3+ expansions.

I think stat inflation will continue at max level much as it does now, they still want upgrades to feel powerful. And with 4 tiers of content there will be a big spread of ILVLs.

It is a good change, not just in the "pro-squish" crowds eyes, but in general. Even if you dont like it, does not mean its not a good change in general, maybe in your eyes, but not in general. So the reason "pro-squish" crowd argue the way they do, is because they are right, and its not just "in their own view" they are right.

The "anti-squish" crowd does not have an argument other than "omgz my numbers will be smaller". And I am sorry, but that is a shit argument. When it has been explained time and time again that it wont affect your relative power to everything else. I did not like it in the start either, because I too felt it was making me weaker, but then I went and read a bit, and understood what it is doing and why it had to happend. Now I am really looking foreward to it. Also because needing to design all bosses around 2-3-4 healing phases would have been stupid, (which they would have needed to do in the next expansion if no squish) because of the 32bit.

So to put it simple, the "anti-squish" crowd simply does not have an argument worth discussing. "I will feel weaker" is no argument when in relative to all other stuff you will be just as strong as you were before the squish. If you're mad that they "nerfed" your dps from 400k to 4k, just imagine they removed the "," to spaces to the left of your old number.

If you can bring another argument than "I will feel weaker", I will gladly listen, until then, sorry, your opinion and argument is stupid and will be treated as such.

They have to if they are holding to what they said about if an item from a new instance (tier) drop, it should always replace what you have on you from older tiers.

We can see the other side's view. And we can see that it is wrong.

"Because I'm right" isn't such a good reason as you might think.
