This is absolutely wrong. Science fiction is not a subset of fantasy. It is a subset of fiction, of which fantasy is also a subset.

He does have a point because Star Wars is a special case in that, while it has a lot of elements of science fiction, it has many of fantasy baked in.

He is saying its science fantasy. that's different than fantasy or science fiction.

I would classify most science fiction as fantasy. What distinguishes fantasy from other fiction is imaging the laws of nature are different. Most science fiction imagines things like telepathy or faster than light travel that are (almost certainly) as contrary to reality as demons or magic spells.

Now, science fiction may have a pretense of somehow being more realistic than conventional fantasy, but this is mere pretense.

Because people are interested in trying something new that they think looks fun. *shakes fist* How dare they?!

People just get super hyped nowadays for things they look forward to. It isn't just Wildstar, that ultra hype surrounds every new MMO. Yes that includes ESO and Everquest Next. It goes beyond just MMOs. With today's internet culture, it's almost like you're doing it wrong if you aren't ultra crazy excited for anything. You either super love something or super hate it. It's dumb but that's just how people are nowadays.

Is it anticipated? I think Wildstar is stuck in 2005.

And about hypes: Up to now no MMO which was hyped by the forums crowd was successfull.

Why are you trying to reword what he said? He specifically said that science fiction was a subset of fantasy. Which is absolutely wrong.
