Because the game is catered to proper gamers, not to people who like pet battles and 10 minute semi-afk dungeon runs. I don't think it's going to make it due to the high requirements put on the player, half of the MMO base will consider it either too hard or "too much effort". However, it's a really nice idea and I wish they'd just have put a bit of a different shell on it (not graphics but theme).

What I think theyll need to do to make this game more interesting would be sounds effects and music. when I think of music for this I get a crash bandicoot/ ratchet and clank sort of feel.the music and effects can rlly add to the immersion of the game. it looks to be good so far, but as stated, the only thing that could be a wow killer would be a new blizz mmo

The music in the game is really good, really adds to the vibe they're going for. Though the SFX can use some more work. Sometimes it's just horrible hearing some of your spells go off.

Wildstar and ESO are going to bomb hard. EQ Landmark and Next are the only things out there worth anticipating

The combat videos i've seen lead me to think that the combat will be more like that in action games like 'god of war' and 'dante's inferno'. I love games such as these, but always find them too short. This in an mmo that keeps getting more content continously has a lot of potential. We'll have to see how it turns out though.
There's only one sane solution: blow it up.

combat looks silly to me. probably going to be a huge clusterf**k of telegraphs that no-one can make any sense out of because of overlap.

but everything else about the game kind of got that ratchet and clank vibe to it so i'm sure people will like it a lot.

I'm sorry but was the goal here to be funny or just be fucking obnoxious? It's the same problem Borderlands 2 had. Trying too hard like a screaming child with ADD.

OT: I played a stress test weekend and I found the game to be relatively fun at the beginning. I got up to like lvl 12 or something, but the zones are sooooo confusing compared to WoW. I did enjoy the game, but it does get boring really quickly.

I did enjoy the movement, although some downsides it was still fun.

Next WoW killer hype that's all.

People love to hate wow. But wow is still the best MMO out there. It creates lot of desperation leading to hype in a new savior.

I myself is kinda hyped by Wildstar. But for the first time I can't have any beta access. And will probably still play wow in 2 years at the end.

Wildstar has a lot of good things going for it, and while it certainly won't be a WoW killer, it might still be good. I personally like what I've seen so far.

It's got nice graphics, the game looks super pretty.
It has fluid combat and interactivity instead of the tab targetting we're used to. You're moving around instead of the standing around we're used to in WoW
    Paths look really cool.
    Player housing looks cool

The Wildstar team have done an excellent job marketing their game and generally generating hype both via their Youtube channel and their streams.

I would say SWTOR, ESO, GW2, Warhammer etc. were/are more hyped than Wildstar.

After being in the closed beta for Wildstar, all my hype has died for it, I doubt I'll even buy it now.

    Bunny. Girls.

I really mean no offense, but what in particular does make people go hyped over this game?
Maybe I'm completely missing something, but to me personally it just seems... bad. :/
    Carbine has excellent at marketting
    (Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

I love how everyone goes 'ewww bunny ears!' while the Aurin can have all sorts of different kind of ears (cat, wings, mouse, etc). Do your research properly before you try and crack something down based on one single model which was shown during the early promotional stage of Wildstar.

I dislike anime, so the graphics aren't it for me. I also don't think it's a wow killer. I'm not sure any game could be, not when people have played it for so many years, there's too much emotion and investment involved with a lot of people playing.

However, what I've seen/read about Wildstar's mechanics seem promising. The limited action set seems really nice, so you don't have 30+ keybindings. I like the idea of the telegraphs, so you don't have to worry so much about having the right target, you just aim with your mouse(unless they dial the telegraphs down and it just turns into whatever mmorpg out there). At best this might mean I don't have to play the UI, I can just play the game. The paths seem like a good idea also, and I like the overall atmosphere(from 0 experience of the actual game), it doesn't seem to be taking itself too seriously.

That's my hopes. For me it really isn't about the world or the graphics so much, it's all about how the game handles. I'm used to wow, so all the mmo's I've tried after seem clunky and clumsy in comparison. That could just be me. Instanced zones, no mouse side buttons supported, something wrong with the animations, too many keys, a million bazillion confusing attributes in gear.. It's those little things that make me quit after the thrill is gone. I don't want to have to study a game in depth on forums etc. to become reasonably good/mediocre at it. I find it harder and harder to even study the changes between each expansion. It's just not that interesting.

Not sure if Wildstar will manage to avoid those issues, but I'll give it a try at least. Seems more promising than a lot of others, but then again, the mechanics might suck and therefore the game.

it doesn't look anything like Borderlands, not sure what the OP is seeing

I know Im definitely NOT looking forward to it. I dont like the style of the graphics, and the combat system has to be one of the worst ever. Its complicated and not the way combat should be in a RPG. I dont want a RPG to have "Street Fighter" type combat. I dont want to have to do jumps, flips, and rolls, and different types of sword swings and combos. Its too damn complicated. Maybe if they made it turn based or even button based like WoW, I could possibly look past the graphics style.

How can you say that if EQ Next Landmark is only in Alpha and EQ Next is not even created yet.... You are getting hyped my friend, hyped about air like that's all it is right now same goes for Blizzard's Titans mmo it's all just air with no real reason why to like or dislike it. I know SEO talks about EQ Next and what they plan, but we have no clue of they will deliver it will not be the first time SEO disappoint in some mayor way.

And about Wildstar, I have seen the videos and stuff and even some early gameplay with Totalbiscut and I can't care less about this game, it does nothing for me the "action" combat system sounds horrible for me thinking that lag + Wildstar combat is instant kill. It's one of the reasons Action combat in MMO's doesn't work if you are with 25 people in a raid you see a clear slowdown when everything flashy happens same will go for Wildstar when it matter's most your frame rate drop and your dead!

Also is this not the game that took the GuildWars 2 Xpack money?!

Well since you ignored gameplay (game. play.) when forming your opinion of the game, you should really rename your thread title to:
Why doesn't everyone have the same aesthetic tastes I do?
