There is really no need to hit the desecrete weapons at all in p2/3 if they are positioned well. If they are struggling that much with their dps then I suggest they should ignore them.

Warlocks, spriests, arcane mages, and ele shamans gain or break even on single target dps by multidotting (shadowburn or havoc + incinerate/immolate=multidotting imo). But otherwise you're right, no need to kill them if you don't have enough *useful* multidotting to get them down in a timely fashion. You can just drop them in convenient places around the room and move out. You can actually put 3 of the 4 in phase 2 against one wall while not moving the boss. In our group, we kill three of the four Phase 2A desecrates using just multidotting with ele shaman + arcane Mage + 1 or 2 warlocks.

Also, if your melee are running out for whirls, they could be losing a bunch of dps. Try to keep them on the boss all the time.
