They're not the brightest bunch. I feel sorry for them though because I feel EDL supporters are generally from quite a narrow band of English society they have been let down by successive governments. I don't believe in any of their nonsense but I feel the way to sort them out is better education and stop the damn London centric nature of the UK. This isn't excusing the racists amongst them because clearly there are a lot, they wheel out the odd Asian person now and then at their rallies or sometimes wave Israeli flags (That's going to convince people they're not racist eh?)

The media over emphasises the EDL too they've always been a fringe organisation with their 'protests' being a few hundred of them down the pub, get pissed then get outnumbered by Unite Against Fascism and the like. Their leader famously left to work with a muslim group in promoting community understanding too I bet he's popular with them hah.

Now the EDL vs. I guess non-EDL is a perfect example of how utterly polarized UK society is. You got the "BURN A MOSQUE, NOOK MECCA" on one side and the leftard "Islam is peace and you're a racist" on the other. That's it. There is no middle ground in UK. There is no honest discussion about Islamic theology and to what extent it relates to terrorism or to certain theocratic regimes and what it can be done in the direction of reform. Moderation once again proves to be life's greatest illusions as nobody is able to come to any sensible conclusions.

um, the UK is almost all middle-ground, dont believe the Dailyfail style of journalism.

As for the whole, debate islam...why? shall we debate Christianity, and use the KKK as a model because thats who you are talking about when you are discussing islamic extremists.

Personally all religion should die out in my opinion, but its not the religion itself thats the issue in these cases, its the fundamentalists who use it as an excuse, and thats the same in all religions, from hard right Christians using it to support their homophobia, to islamic extremists using it to support terrorism. But that extreme and usually twisted interpretation is no way representative of the mainstream religion, which is normal people.


We need sensible debate on things like immigration (which I am supportive of), but people like the EDL and quite frankly the slightly more respectable face of UKIP, get in the way of. The EDL with its blatant racism and UKIP with its total distortion of the facts and absurd propaganda.....(love the 29million Romanians who were going to flood the uk according to UKIP.......esp as the population of Romania is 21million...)

The majority of Muslims that i've met during my life have been happy living in Britain the way it is, they don't want Sharia Law over here, there pretty happy just being able to express there beliefs in peace.
