This is happening in the UK. Tho wouldn't find it difficult to see it happening in a bunch of other EU countries.

All non-violent crimes should be penalized outside of jail - jail is for removing violent offenders from society - it makes no sense for non-violent offenders.

There are tons of ways of to create meaningful consequences to non-violent crimes without jailing people, ruining lives and families, costing mountains of tax on those still in society, and avoiding the further violence and cycle of crime that jails create.

Yeah, the whole point of prison to me is to rehabilitate them while protecting society from them in the meantime. We don't really need to protect society from non-violent offenders, except for maybe people that wouldn't be prevented from doing their harm regardless of whether they're in prison or not.

Even in the cases such as fraud, theft, destruction of property, arson etc? Regardless, I'd wish someone would ask reprensentatives of the UK government and the advocates of this measure, that why is it...Jail for men but Rehabilitation for women?

Corporal punishment should be reinstated as the rule of thumb.
