    Are 2 Handers Broken/Bugged ?

    As of today (03/17/2014),
Are 2 handed weapons still bugged damage wise? I have yet to find a 2 hander over 1300 damage. They all seem so worthless.

I remember reading a week or so back that 2 handers were bugged and they would be a fixed by __X__ but it doesnt look like they ever were.

Any one know if Im simply having bad luck, or is 2 hander dps bugged ATM?

Yeah they are still broken... I found a Skorn with 450ish DPS last night.

Is that damage or DPS? I ask because a 2h with equal DPS to a 1h will still do more damage per hit, making it better for builds that use expensive abilities, DoTs and cooldowns a lot. It doesn't mean it isn't bugged somewhere, but it also doesn't mean that 2h are broken, just different.

It's not just you. I've found plenty of two-handers, especially legendary con weapons, that don't even outperform my mainhand weapon, let alone my mainhand and off-hand combined. I even got a legendary with some of the best primary and secondary stats I've ever seen on a two-hander and it still couldn't compete for raw damage increase. I wanted to use the thing so much that I gave it a try anyways, and the drop in my numbers during active use was sad.

Yes they are and Blizz said they weren't going to be fixed before RoS or at all. The blue post was on the main page a few days to a week ago.

    http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comme..._roll_bad_dps/

    The misconception
2-Handers are bad because they roll some sort of bugged 1-hander stats/affixes.
    No.
    The comparison
Here's an image comparing an old weapon with a new and improved Loot 2.0™ item: Immortal King's Boulder Breakers.
The one on the left has 1.6k DPS and dropped in patch 1.0.8. The one on the right has 1.1k DPS and dropped today, in patch 2.0.3.
    Are the affixes bugged?
    No.
If we take a look at the game guide for this item, we can see that the 2.0.3 version rolled correct affixes.
Guide says +(732–894)–(877–1111) Holy Damage, and this item rolled +770-986 Holy Damage. So the elemental damage is correct.
Guide says +495–787 Strength and this item rolled +580 Strength. So the strength roll is also correct.
Guide says 76–173 Life per Fury Spent and this item rolled 153. This roll is also correct.
    Here's where things go wrong
The base DPS listed in the game guide for IK Boulder Breaker is 555 DPS
This means that the base item for this weapon should be a Titan Axe
If we remove the affixes from the 1.0.8 item we find out that the base item has 555 DPS. The 1.0.8 Boulder Breaker base item was an ilvl 63 Titan Axe.
But if we do the same thing with the 2.0.3 item, we find out that the base damage is 248.5 DPS. The 2.0.3 Boulder Breaker is not a Titan Axe. It's an ilvl 56 Battersmash.
    Conclusion
In the transition from 1.0.8 to 2.0.3, The IK Boulder Breaker lost over 300 base DPS by having its base item changed from ilvl 63 to ilvl 56.
This is true for every single 2-hander in the game.
Skorn for example, is not an ilvl 63 Decapitator with 560 DPS as listed in the item guide, it's an ilvl 58 Valaska with 313 DPS
The most important thing: did this happen only to 2-handers?
No. 1-hander base items have been modified as well. It's just that the transition from ilvl 63 to lower ilvls has a way lower impact on the base DPS for 1-handed weapons.
For example, Azurewrath went from ilvl 63 Rune Sword to ilvl 59 Tulwar. By doing so, it lost 91 base DPS. Only 91, not 300+.
    What is the developers' intention?
Their intention is definitely to make 2-handers the go-to weapons for certain builds. Their average damage is higher than 1-handers and this difference will be multiplied by affixes like % increased elemental damage and % increased skill damage.
With this model, 2-Handers will work with channeling skills, DoTs, high-cost or large-cooldown skills. But just at level 70.
small edit: Battersmash is ilvl 56 not 55
edit #2: ALL legendaries that had ilvl 61-63 bases have transitioned to ilvl 60 base or less: weapons, armors, off-hands. This is the reason why legendary mojos and orbs roll low damage.

I had no idea but that explains why that legendary 2H that dropped last night was such garbage overall for me vs the the 1H I have now.

I've been getting 1300dps + 1handed drops and 1100-1300 dps 2handed drops. On average the one handers I get have more dps than the 2handers, now a 1300 dps 1handed weapon was a unicorn pre-2.0. I never saw a single one hander with more than 1100 dps actually drop, now I regularely see 1handers dropping with 1300 + dps.

So it's very different to pre 2.0. I was particularely annoyed when I had a Skorn with 1200 dps and intelligence drop for my Barbarion. 2handed drops are currently worthless.

Basically they're working as intended as per loot 2.0 and RoS, since level 60 is now "levelling content" and doesn't award legendaries with ilvl 63 basetype items anymore.

Until level 70 yes there is a disparity, but once RoS is live these issues will be gone, the game is not designed for level 60 anymore it is for level 70.

AKA we're lazy as hell and don't feel like fixing this bug and instead will let you just wait until it fixes itself in a few weeks and 10 levels later. And a big fat screw you to anybody who wants to use a 2-hander.

P.S. Hope you're buying the expansion because otherwise 2-handers are just broken permanently for you. Lulz.

Ya I understand the frustration, I am currently using the 2 handed sword Maximus on my wizard because of the proc, it would be nice if it was a bit better but I can wait and hell the fire build im using makes the fire chains do waaaayyyy more damage.

It doesn't explain why 1handers and 2handers have the same damage, or that a lot of people find higher dps 1handers than 2handers. It's not really an excuse as not all people will be purchasing the expansion pack, it is an issue that they choose not to fix when really it is an easy problem to fix.

I'm not sure if there is a conflict in workflow but the Diablo 3 team do seem to need 20 years of procrastinating on an idea just to come up with a simple change. I don't play Path of Exile now but they sure don't mess about when it comes to fixing issues, D3 team could learn a lot from their work ethic.

I thought the game guide was classing 2 handers as 1 handers. Giving 2 handers 1 hander values.

    Case in point

Yeah that clearly sucks. Such a lazy stance right there. They can fix it soooo easily.
And while the game is aimed for max level. It sucks to be forced into leveling with dualwield.

Can't find it offhand, but according to a blue on I saw on diablofans, the fix is in for all 2h in RoS content, not just 70. I may be misremembering, gimme a sec to look up the actual quote.

Edit: Nvm, best I could find was the reddit linked further up. At least they're not dismissing the idea of looking at 2handers again after the x-pack! :P

You still have AH goodness to buy your Skorn weapon if you want to play 2handed. I prefer 2handed too but I've had my Skorn since the revamp of items came in a long time ago. It seems all the new weapons are massively lacking in crit damage, which is probably for the best because it simply resulted in anything without crit damage + a socket being useless. It was the reason the revamped Skorn became so popular as the only viable 2hander.
