Watch those modern bots. They play better than a lot of players in random BGs. In fact I've seen full teams of players murdered by 80%+ bot teams.
Now think about how Blizzard might go about sorting the real players from the bots, given all they have to go on is data logs from each match.
What has happened is that bots are now so sophisticated that they are almost impossible to distinguish from real players. Bots vs bot detection has always been an arms race, and the bots have finally won.
Ever occur to you that it's actually not easy to identify bots?
But sure blame Blizzard as if it's not the botters' fault.

Hint hint, PQR was not a bot per-se. It was a rotation automation tool, it could've been used to automate several things @ AH too, but it was by no means a real bot like HB is.
To be fair, I joined a Silvershard mines yesterday were only me and one other player weren't bots.
They all stood on top of each other, jumped down the hill at the start and stood still at the bottom not moving for like 20-30 seconds till someone entered combat with them then they all attacked him at once.
Me and the other guy that wasn't a bot had a laugh about the luck of joining a bg where 80% of the group are bots and sat at the top of the slope till we lost.
INB4 how do you know they were bots ?!1!oen!
Time to bring out this old fake account .
From experience I can tell you the "real" bots are unbannable. Blizzard could only identify them by chat but this easily solved by having phones with mobile internet even in my country. The logic and bot programmers in general have become so much better its really crazy to see. One of my old friends got <Rank 10 in a PVP-Battlegroup a few seasons ago with a complete bot-team. The bots you see are usually free bots by kids starting coding and copying example code together without understanding.
But the real money is made on the Auctionhouse. My businesspartner and I financed our BSc studies by writing and selling exactly two bots: Auctionhouse Bot for WoW and BLTP Bot for Gw2. While studying computer science we improved the product and implemented new concepts we learned. The last incarnation we pushed had detection of worthy investments which is surprisingly easy in games. Looking back on our journey, WoW market is very slow and boring once you figure it out. It is easy to camp with bots and once you control several niches, gold just flies in. The global market in GW2 is a lot faster and you can use stock trading strategies like high-speed trading which makes it a lot of fun.
For WoW we sold only two licenses per server and faction, for GW2 we sold 20 licenses world-wide. That was more than enough money than other students working full time while studying at university made. One customer tried to buy our source when we announced we would close down now that we finished our Bachelors. But we declined, maybe we want to finance a master of science in the future, who knows .
Two fun facts before I abandon this account: A LOT of gold sellers wear a chinese mask for their customers. It seems like a lot of ppl think chinese gold is very cheap. Some companies have two websites because of that, one "american quality shop" and one "china super cheap cheap shop".
In more than 3 years we as a developer and only 1 of our customers got banned. We were banned while developing a hack to eliminate the need to run to the mailbox every time.
The customer got banned after running the bot non-stop for 6 weeks straight on only one account. It was his own fault not using our account manager to distribute the load on multiple accounts .
Goodbye friends and please keep reporting the kiddy bots so blizz has no time to investigate the real bot business
BG's would be alot more fun if there weren't any bots. IDK why Blizzard can't get rid of these damn botters.
for those who said blizzard doesn't care about bots that's bullsh1t, just cos they don't ban everyone u report instantly doesn't mean they don't do anything. back in the old days I used to have AV bot that simply right click on the PvP-queuing NPC, queue up and enter. and then just jump up every minute at the starting point... yeah it was very very poor bot and I got 24 hour ban plus all the honor made in the last week removed. lots of people got banned too. and blizzard is definitely doing something about it...
the main problem we are facing is NOT that bots are getting worse, they are getting too good that out play most players. who gives a F if there are 3 guys doing the same thing and follow the same path(advanced bot nowdays don't follow the same path). if they are doing the right thing in BG, they won't get reported. I monitor my bots at leas for the first time. while doing housework, having dinner or watch TV. and they perform very well. and most player only report people that stand in starting zone afk, not the one that's been running the map helping the team and doing good dps/healing and scoring pvp objective for that BG.
the problem we have is jealousy. people who doesn't bot are jealous, i am so 100% sure that all the PVPers and LFRers HATE gearing up grinding it. and it's really no fun and time consuming but we do feel necessary because u agree to not bot when u start the game. they are afraid of losing their account getting ban, but they also like to not sit at the PC with fkn sore back, neck, finger, eye to spam buttons while the botters are doing more enjoyable things in life.
and i really don't think bots will drive out legit players and bliz will lose subscription. NO way that is true, bliz is losing subscription because the game is old, they game is not getting more time consuming it's just that people are bored...
i go do BG, and LFR because i want to SEE the content, so is questing I'd do the quest storyline ONCE by hand. but there is no fun doing it twice. however doing BG/LFR once is not gonna give u full set. it's just take way too much time. did u know it takes about 9-12 hours to do SoO LFR if u queue as dps(because u may queue to last boss and will need to requeue for 50 minutes) that's 10 hours of ur precious time gone. if u are a casual player that has a job and a life. HOW many epics do u think u can get per week? and they are gonna be replaced next teir. WoW is all about endless gear grind, the never ending treadmill. i have 11x lv90 and i want all of them to have full set honor gear and full set LFR.
believe me. botters will not drive out legit players, however it will make legit players angry if u are gathering too much.
people will quit WoW because it's simply take too much time to achieve too little, they quit cos they simply don't have time to replace those quest greens.
for those who has time to play this game is too addictive for botters to drive them out...
in the end, if you can't beat them, JOIN THEM! hahaha

I would have thought that there would be a relatively simple solution. For example, I know that in the poker/casino gambling world bots are relatively easily identified by mouse signature. You are just talking about reverse Turing tests, this is computer science 101. A "report bot" button would also be easy to implement.
I don't think Blizzard care that much frankly.
On behalf of Blizzard I am apologizing to you random stranger. From now on, Blizzard will instantly detect bots, ban them on the spot and any player who has AFKed more than 15 minutes will be instantly marked as bot ( and action will be taken against him ) instead of logging him out of the game.
If this is what you wanted to hear then I have on thing to tell you: Wrong forum dude. We are not Blizzard. We will not help you reach Blizzard. We will either react negatively to your post or we will support it so devotedly that we will look just as ridiculous as you. Insulting WoW here is stupid. Even if the things you stated are true - this is still not the right place.
Wait wait wait - Buy a 90 Healer, Setup Second PC, have the character /follow me and modify the addon that will heal me in BG's and dungeons?? OMG You guys are Brilliant!! Thanks!!
