    Suspended 24 hours for highly inappropriate name "Pedobeard"

    What? I opened a ticket to get a refound on an Heirloom I bought by mistake, I get a reply from a GM and I get banned 24 hours for having the name "Pedobeard".

    Nobody ever reported me, nobody ever told me that they were offended by my name, what I usually got were chuckles and funny comments. Also I am not the only person using this name.

    Thoughts?

    Locked the thread.

    Conclusion and core of the thread has become more a jab than a discussion. We all have opinions, as well as wanting to share them but we still all have to keep it all by mind. This thread does lead into a questionable topic by digging deeper at the general case, one of the reasons I am locking it. As well as some people's reactions, and the counter reactions dismantling the thread slowly.

    If you disagree on my actions of locking the thread, you are welcome to send a PM.

    How do you know if someone reported you? Usually people wouldn't even tell you that they did...

    Also, you basically reported yourself by opening the ticket in the first place.

    Well, I don't think that's a polite name to use. You don't see names like MrHands or smth do u?

    Firstly you should probably blank out the name of the GM in your image.

    Secondly, your name can and will be taken in an offensive context. Just because someone doesn't immediately whisper you with grief, does not mean you haven't been reported.

    Thirdly, I'm fairly certain such names are against the Terms of Use.

    They're right. It is highly inappropriate and you deserved the ban for going against Blizzard's policies.

    Okay, just a few of Blizzards naming policy paragraphs:

    Refer to extreme or violent sexual acts
    Negatively refer to any aspect of sexual orientation pertaining to themselves or other players
    Are pornographic in nature
    I think that name does fall under one of those. And it was the GM that was offended, easy peasy.
    And no that others somehow have gotten away with a crime until now, does not absolve yours.

    This. Some people will find the name amusing, others won't - but the rules aren't up for negotiation and it should be pretty obvious why some end up being changed once they're brought to Blizzard's attention.

    I'm not entirely sure how considering a name which references a frankly disgusting form of human nature "inappropriate" is narrow minded.

    I don't think that's an excuse that'll cover it though, since it's obviously refering to pedobear.
