In need of a new video card.

Alright so my nvidia gt 640 went out, and I need a new graphic card.

What is the best possible card I can get for $145-$175 or less?

Will be playing mostly Wow, d3, sc2, and watching movies with said card.

Also might want to add that I run duel-monitors

    My computer specs: psu is a coolmax zx series 500w, w/ 6pin PCI-E +12V 34A
CPU TYPE: AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core Processor

    CPU SPEED: 3.82 GHz

    SYSTEM MEMORY: 8.57 GB

VIDEO CARD MODEL: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640(now using a radeon hd 6670, but only getting 10-20fps in 25mans... sucks!)

    VIDEO CARD MEMORY: 4.23 GB

    PRIMARY DISPLAY RESOLUTION: 1440x900

    SECONDARY DISPLAY RESOLUTION: 1366x768

    HARD DISK SIZE: 999.83 GB

HARD DISK FREE SPACE: 845.78 GB (85%)

I'd look into getting an R7-260X or the GeForce GTX750Ti. We'd also need ot know your power supply specs (make, model, 12V amperage).

Best you are going to do in your price range is a Nvidia 750ti. It draws only about 60w (which means you won't need to replace your power supply) and it is miles beyond the gt 640 performance wise (especially since the 640 is not meant to be a gaming card) and I'm also assuming you are located in the USandA, cheers.

I guess I might get the gtx 750 ti then. On paper it does seem like a solid card, and it will work for duel-monitor setup. Just can't find any reviews on the card as to how it will function with WoW and maybe some of the other games I listed.

Some people in my guild told me to avoid getting anything that new/anything that is low 700s. But looks like the best bang for my buck.

If anyone else has any input I'd sure like to hear it! Ty

Well here is a link to a comparison of your old gt 640 vs the 750ti. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1132?vs=1130

I wouldn't really rely on your guild mates if they are telling you this card isn't good, it's pretty much the go to bang for your buck budget card. However don't expect to be getting 100fps in wow as it really is a CPU limited game, but it will definitely be a noticeable upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to buy from amazon, and I was wanting your input here JosephStylin.

There is an Asus and a Msi model.

MSI one is the same? But maybe a little cheaper? Not sure how to go about this! I mean I think asus is probably a better brand, so not sure.

    MSI - http://www.amazon.com/MSI-OC-PCI-Exp...rce+GTX+750+Ti

    Asus - http://www.amazon.com/Asus-GTX750TI-...rce+GTX+750+Ti

I noticed that the asus model has the 6pin req, so I guess that means it's probably the better choice here. Only question I really have left is my psu good enough for it? And is the 6pin 12V 36A connector good!

Both are good brands, I'd say Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and EVGA are all good brands atm. Go for whats cheaper out of those two IMO.

Edit: It looks like there is a 3-5 week wait for the MSI one you linked me so... probably don't go for that one =)
