    BTHomeHub 4 replacement Modem Router

Looking to replace the BTHomeHub4 with something a little more reliable.

No set budget in mind but probably around the £180 mark.
    Requirements:
    • Suitable for LAN Streaming (HD Movies etc..) I can't think of a single router would ever not support this but needs to be said.
    • Able to handle lots of simultaneous connections. (I've noticed a lot that torrenting regardless of bandwidth caps throws everything else on the network out, just because of the number of connections it makes)
    • Must support 20+ WiFi devices simultaneously. (Phones, Tablets, Computers, TV's, Consoles etc..)
    • Must have QoS (Preferably IP based QoS)
    • Preferably supports OpenWRT (just so that I can have a bit of fun, but not really a requirement. It's something I'm going to be using a lot at work in the not too distant future and it'd be nice to get some prior experience)
    • Modem ADSL 2+
    • Must not have a built in filter! All of our wall sockets are filtered on the socket, no external or additional filters are required.

I'd think that spending this kind of money it's probably worth getting something that has Wireless AC. (Pretty much all the devices are going to be on WiFi

One I was looking at that caught my eye was:
    Billion BiPAC 7800DXL 600Mbps Triple-WAN Wireless-N Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router

You could look into ASUS higher end routers too. They are amazing from my experience, and they can do all you want, and then some. You can even set up guest wifi spots if you want - or make them for specific devices

Example http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/ (This is their newest AC model)

We've deployed a decent bunch of DrayTek modems at work, they seem to work as advertised, no hiccups or other bull****; however they're quite expensive.
    (My 2 cents)

Pretty sure that's just a router.

    ASUS PB298Q 4K | 2x QNIX QH2710 | CM Storm Rapid w/ Reds | Zowie AM | Schiit Stack w/ Sennheiser HD8/Antlion Modmic

I have looked at this one before, but it is just a router and I've had difficulty finding a suitable modem to connect it to.

The ASUS option seems to be:
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/n...u10-2pa0-.html
    ASUS DSL-N12U B1 300Mbps Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router
And I'm not entirely convinced that this will work any better than the BT one.

Yeah I've been looking at the DrayTek ones. There don't seem to be many options for these though. (Although every review i've read has nothing but 5star ratings )
The DrayTek one seems to be: DrayTek Vigor 2830n Triple-WAN Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router

i was looking myself lately building a small server and complement it with a modem/router from Asus as well. Costs around 189euro here, should be around 150-160GBP there.

    This one:

Seem to be some rather mixed reviews on this from BT Customers.

Yes i read them as well, but in general half the times at least the ppl that rate with 1-2stars either get doa items or they can't configure things themselves.
I've looked around and seems that 5Ghz although alot faster has limited range, especially through walls, compared to 2.4Ghz.

There's only so many DoA units that actually come out. In truth the majority of "DoA" reports are hugely exaggerated by people who don't know what else to classify the problem as. Ironically I actually sell 3G modem routers and by the time we actually dispatch them we have less than 1 in 5,000 units that we could classify as being faulty before they were dispatched.

Not a huge issue since I already have a dual-band repeater setup at a suitable distance for the bthomehub.
