Magnetic...rice?

So something really weird happened, I've had white/brown rice mixed in a plastic tub for months that I never use.
My brother needed it because he got his phone wet and wants to dry it out, so I tipped all of the rice into another container, most of the rice came out but some at the bottom stuck to the container in a perfect formation.

I thought that's weird and tried touching it with my finger, grains of rice moved around the bottom of the container as if they were magnetic, like iron filings with a moving magnet underneath.

Can anyone explain whats going on?

Rice that had been moving against the plastic tub got an electrical charge and thus stuck to the tub. Take a balloon and rub it against your head and your hair will stick to it. Same principle.

OT: If you said the container was metal I would say maybe somehow some small metal fragments got stuck to the rice, but magnets don't stick to plastic, so it was clearly ghosts.

Plastic container... gonna vote for static rather than magnetism.
