Didn't we have this thread some time ago?
Maybe....
OT: The Lich King.
Black Lives Matter
Gandolf solo's Balrog before rage timer goes off, but he can't solo Deathwing?
Copied from Lotr forum:
Conclusion: Balrogs are basically suicidal in combat so both would win/lose.There were three battles occuring with Balrogs:
- Glorfindel vs. a Balrog: both perished
- Echtelion vs. Gothmog: both perished
- Gandalf vs. a Balrog: both perished
There were four battles with Dragons:
- Turin vs. Glaurung: Turin killed the dragon without dying himself
- Eärendil vs. Ancalagon: Eärendil killed the dragon
- Fram vs. Scatha: Fram killed the dragon
- Bard vs. Smaug: Bard killed the dragon
Smaug IMO. Gandalf defeated the Balrog solo albeit at the cost of his life. He never tried to tackle Smaug even with the dwarves and the book tells us how if sauron got his hands of smaug basically everyone would be fucked. I think in Middle Earth dragons are kinda the epitome of elemental forces for mortals. They just plain fuck shit up. Balrog is strong, sure, but I never seen him as more than just a really beefy dude from that other places.
depends which balrog. Gothmog, lord of balrogs, in my opinion wins against smaug and smaug probably wins against most of them. dont underestimate balrogs just because you havent seen their full glory on screen . they were after all Morgot's "generals"
Depends on if it's Tolkein's early Balrogs or later Balrogs.
Although I bet they both have pretty high fire resistance....
Balrog should win no problem. Now if we're gonna throw Ungoliant into the mix, imma bet on the giant spider that had enough power to literally end an age. Considering it took a shitload of Balrog just to make her retreat, when they had the element of surprise I might add. Smaug literally doesn't hold a candle to either of them. They're boots and he's an ant.
