I would like to see the hearthstone redesigned. Rather than teleport you to a predetermined location, give you the option to teleport to any of your factions settlements (that you have already discovered), perhaps with a longer CD to keep it within reason.

There's more to flying than just going from a to b.

  3. #23
Yup. Best travel system ever was in UO: go someplace once, mark a rune, go back whenever you feel like it. No time wasted on flight paths you've seen 100 times and just alt tab for, or flying with "autowalk" on over some crap you've flown over 100 times. GW2 is pretty good, much better than wow for travel.

I've played games with these kind of systems, they work in a singleplayer game, not an MMO.

I picked "other". If such a thing were available, I would prefer that it were some sort of Mage ability that can be shared with others.

Odd, I thought we already had a version of that(portals).

Or allow you to bind it to more than one place with each additional bind adding X amount of time to the CD.

All aboard the NetherTrain! Next stop... well, wherever the hell you decide to jump off. Blizz why you not have trains (excluding the tram).

I'd favor an instant travel system then having to use flightpaths to get everywhere. however I'd rather have flying mounts then instant teleports.

Yes. The less time I spend traveling and "immersing" myself with the world, the happier I am.

    Er...wut?

    GW2 invented travelling between A and B?

Take a taxi from Shrine to Timeless Isle and let me know again how flying half way across Vale in the wrong direction is fine, they have even said themselves that taxis have been pretty awful, in vanilla and TBC they sucked so damn hard, and somewhat improved later, but several still take detours of several minutes in meaningless directions.

On topic though, a waypoint system just wouldn't work in WoW, not an instantaneous one, they have said they don't like it themselves, and would rather fix the somewhat strange taxi flightpaths instead.

Remember they want to push us out in the world as much as possible, even when it means dropping convenience.

If they were fine, nobody would be objecting to the flying mount restriction.

They simply aren't more convenient due to the necessity to reach the end point.
Being able to deviate whenever you choose is a convenience that the taxi service can never offer.

They often aren't faster unless you take very short routes, due to unnecessary deviation to follow the "scenic route".

The only reason they are considering this move is because of trying to recreate a feeling of an earlier game which was created mostly by the community rather than game mechanics, therefore it is doomed to fail.
The community simply stinks nowadays, and has been declining for years.

It is a completely contradictory argument to use the "danger and immersion" viewpoint as taxi services are actually the safest possible means of transit from point A to B, due to an immunity that flying mounts do not offer.
They offer no control, therefore no "immersion", and no danger.

I would not be for this, it'd feel more like Cata. Port in, kill, port back to previous local.

It depends how they go about it. I really liked the teleport system they have in ESO so something similar to that I would be fine with. Although, I believe it should be heavily restricted. Only one teleport shrine in each zone and have the shrine somewhere neutral. You can TP once every 10-15 minute otherwise it'll cost you gold.

I don't think that would fit very well. Diablo 3 is a fast paced hack and slash game, so it works there, to minimize the amount of time you spend traveling and maximize the amount of time you spend hacking and slashing. WoW is more about the journey.
The world is full of evil and lies and pain and death, and you can't hide from it... You can only face it. The question is, when you do, how do you respond? Who do you become?

@King Jaylock - No flying in WoD is to slow everyone down on content, so people can't just blow through the content in one month, and unsub.

Also, I am against instant teleporting. That would make having a mount totally useless.

Remember how cool it was for the 27 minute flight paths in classic, and TBC

Personally i love the idea of no flying

Back in Vanilla it opened up the world in another way. Yes things took a bit longer time, but if u dont have time to explore via groundmount i dont know what to tell you, maybe there is a better game for you out there with less interactive world and less discover to find. I have meet many friends while on groundmount, Imagine u are on your way to a zone. u see 2 players fighting, or someone keeps dying at of a mob or anything, most of would stop to see if this person needs help in anyway, regardless of it beeing a duel, or a hard quest or a rare that is hard to solo. Why would i let a fellow horde/alliance player die ?

For you new players, when u enter Mop and cant fly.
You meet so much more people this way. Form groups and just have a better social experiance, because you found a player on the way to the same area as you. This would not happen in a flying zone.

When on a flying mount u skip to much content, u dont have to run from elite packs or avoid mobs overall, makes gathering so easy, and u it stops the interaction of the world overall since u have nothing to worry about and just fly from Point A to B. this you can do with flight paths.

On the downside, yeah we dont get to see that landscape when flying. it was the main point of BC. and since this is a BC realated expansion, not haveing flying feels kinda wierd from a discover and seeing the world from a flying POV.

Why not make Flying zones ? We all know how netherstorm looked like in bc. it was a pain when u lvled as 68 and not had flying, cant we just get a flying in some zones ? Where blizzard can add and work on these zone more and make the zone suitable for flying and make them feel epic and grand ?

Since the player base of Flying/No Flying feels so divided, this for me feels like a good solution.

yeah screw how the world is, lets just make everything in one place, no exploring, nothing takes time. make a city and 1 zone. with everything instant, the base concept for an MMO is a big and vast world. "immersing" your self with the world is the feeling they give you, maybe u should look into singleplayer games instead.

Heeeeeeeeeeell yes. I've played this game for ages, and I've never felt any immersion; which is fine. It takes an excellent RPG, for me to get even a little emerged. I do wish they'd make stuff like this happen and not try to force something unwanted upon me, though.

This is simply Flight Points but with instant effect rather than a few min of waiting. Don't really see the point...
WoD looked too good to not come back for.
