Hair follicle test

I've got a hair follicle and urine analysis test for a government job in approximately 6 months. I plan on quitting the day after 4/20. If I fail this test I am indefinitely barred from any government job for life and my degree becomes worthless so it's not an option. I have been smoking weed continuously for 4 years now. I know your hair has to be a minimum of an inch and half so they can go back 90 days. I'm just not sure of how long it takes for the metabolites to leave the body. How long should I wait after quitting to shave my head?

Well considering that marijuana has an extremely long metabolic half-life it's actually a function of how often you smoke and for how long before you will test completely positive.

So if you've smoked weed every day for the last 10 years, you're pretty much fucked.

Well I'd personally argue that precluding somebody for a job based on infrequent casual marijuana usage where that usage doesn't effect their ability to safety and effectively perform that job is stupid.


But rules are rules, and yeah... if you were training for a job where you might get precluded based on a drug test, you should have stopped as soon as you started school.

Just stop now and hope, that's about it. How long does it take to grow your hair an inch and a half? I don't know how fast hair grows I have fairly long hair so it just "is" I don't notice these things whereas someone who keeps it really short will have a better estimate. Well, that far plus a week or two in advance just shave it all off and hope it grows back in time. That's about it.

I'm not in a predicament I can opt out and begin the employment process at any point in the future if that's how long it takes to clean up but i'm pretty sure it's only a couple of months. The thing is though, his hair follicle will continue depositing the marijuana indicators into his hair until his body is done metabolising it all. So even if he stopped now, there's going to be a clear history of his marijuana use in that inch of hair. Although it will show concentrations lowering over time. His best bet is to square with his employer. "Yeah, peer pressure, blah blah blah but I quit after school." but that might not even work.

OP: I'd say, shave your head to nothing now, measure it until it gets to 1.5 inches,
then use that as your time frame for how long you've got until you need to buzz it
again. But, with weed taking such a long time to stop being metabolized, you might
already be screwed.

Exactly, if he is so addicted to drugs, that he cant give them up in order to provide a living for himself and his family, then he is not very responsible and only cares about feeling good rather than being a productive member of society
