Why is WoW so expensive compared to other games?

i've done the math and the amount of time i've spent playing the game is around 4800 hours for $1440. You find me something that i enjoy doing for around 30 cents an hour. wow is far and away the cheapest hobby i have.

ding ding ding. really is the easiest way to figure out how much "value" something has.

Im on my own side of the fence. When Im not playing wow I spend money on Steam games during sales end up hating every single one playing it for less than an hour or i spend my money on World of warcraft and get bored in a month or two.

Because it was worth it, it's not right now, but it will be worth it again.

Wow without the currently priced monthly fee would be a very, very horrible experience and the game would die soon after.

How is paying $2000 on something that has lasted 10 years denial? I couldn't give a fuck if something i spent $2000 on that was fun for me wasn't recognized by anyone.

Thats like saying "oh you've spent $2000 over the last 10 years eating your favourite food. AND YOU CANT SHOW ANYONE!!". It's called a Hobby. People pay far more than $2000 over 10 years for most Hobbies.

Well said, I spent $10,000 on a Toyota Supra TT and <2 years later the engine blew and I had to scrap it, can't show anyone that. WoW was a much better investment looking back lol.

Pretty much this. I'm always like "what" when people call me out on paying for the game, when they throw money away every night for expensive alcohol and tobacco. To each his own, duh. Not to mention that I'm much better off with occasional beer and no cigarettes at all.
