Yeah sure if it was a near exact replica of my body
Yeah sure if it was a near exact replica of my body
Sure! I can always blow myself up or hurl myself into a sun or black hole when/if I get tired of living after a few millenia.
My only point of concern with this idea is consciousness. While the robot would for all intents and purposes be me, it would just be a mental duplicate. That's great for my family and loved ones, they would get to have a form of me around but if the process killed me? That's it for me. My consciousness ceases to be and something else just takes my place, even if it believes it is me, it wouldn't be. That's my main problem with similar suggestions about teleportation and the notion that you're essentially just copied over. What comes out the other side may think and act like you, but in reality? You're dead. Worst part? There'd be no way of warning you. More and more people would just undergo this procedure and assume that everything about them was transferred and in reality no one would end up being who they originally were.. Just a bunch of machines that assume they were people. A personal nightmare of mine.
But seriously, I think the implementation of mechanical devices into the human body is inevitable. Starting with small, inoculate stuff like an embedded phone/tablet receiving device and "smart" glasses that serve as a screen all the way up to robotic prosthetic.
Could my robobody experience pleasure while having hot robot on human secks?
Absolute Immortality would undoubtedly, if inevitably, contain the wisdom of how foolish such an idea truly is.
Defiantly a lesson I would have to learn the hard way.
I wouldn't because then there'd simply be a clone of me walking around
I wouldn't even need the super strength. I just want to live forever, because I want to watch what happens to Humanity, as well as this planet.
However, just like with everything else, you have to think about the long-term effects of this. We would have to severely curb the birth of new humans, as the old simply aren't dying off anymore. Our population would grow at an enormous rate and never really drop.
There is also the fact that not everyone would take to this willingly, and choose to die rather than be immortal. But as time progresses, and the robosapiens become the top 'race' on Earth, things will start to tilt in their favor. There are a lot of things a robot body wouldn't need, that a human does - food, oxygen, sleep, etc. Jobs would be harder for humans to get, as they can't work indefinitely, need down time, and are in general a lot squishier. The robosapien's focus would change, differing drastically from that of the human. They'd really have no need for all of the comforts we have now, and could, in theory, start looking to get off this rock to be away from 'inferior' beings. Wars could even break out. They could decide ALL humans need to be converted. Humans could decide that it was a bad idea to make robosapiens in the first place, and start another crusade.
With the way humanity has gone so far, I absolutely DO NOT believe we'd be able to co-exist on this planet peacefully. At least not after the first 100 years or so. That's the thing about immortality; you're not longer worried about existing. You have eternity to do so.

He isn't talking about cloning your conscience. He's talking about actually moving it from one to the other. Nothing is being created or destroyed, just transferred.
...I could play video games on my brain. YeS
oh I don't know, that operates under the assumption robo-sapiens would actually need to work.
Suppose they fill their life with exploration, study, etc rather than menial labour.
And yea I'm not sure if it's possible but moving my consciousness from body to machine would be amazing.
Dragonflight Summary, "Because friendship is magic"
Only if i can turn myself off/on to "sleep" for centuries at a time, if things are boring.
Sleep keeps you sane. Even if you don't feel tired you will need to shut off, or the days will blend together and depress you.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
I still believe that the human mind simply can't sustain sanity for hundreds of years. Everything will become dull in comparison over a long period, time and memory is far too complex when looking at a several hundred years lifespan, our memories would be mixed and indifferent over time.
That of course is just a theory of mine.
