Looking for critique before ordering for first build

I've played WoW/LoL/D3 on a laptop with a Radeon 5650M for the past four years, however a few days ago the card started to die and that was the impetus that led to me deciding to build a desktop. I fiddled around with this site a bit, and was able to get an i5-4430 for $99.99 so I jumped at that opportunity earlier tonight, now I'm just looking for a critique/suggestions to improve the build.

Ideally I'd like to be running WoW/League/D3 on very high setting at 1920x1080. I also love the Total War series but I haven't played Rome2, Shogun2, Napoleon, or Empire much as they tended to overheat my laptop very quickly. I'm aiming to spend a max of about $700 ($600 CPU excluded), no peripherals or OS needed. I'll deal with those later once I have the build out of the way. Being able to stream would be nice, I assume if it can handle stuff on high/ultra it's no problem to drop settings a little if I want to stream though.

The build suggestion site told me the GIGABYTE R9 270X, however there is also a Sapphire 7950 3GB available at the same $199.99 pricetag. Or would I be better off jumping up to a GTX 760?

Looks mostly good... I'm curious how you got the i5 for $100... It's showing as $180 for me in any iteration.

I was able to get Staples to price match it at the $99.99 Fry's price.

Dang, thats a steal and a half >.< I might pick one up on principal. But the build looks good. Id prefer a WD Blue 1TB over the seagate

I went through their live chat and it took 3 tries to get someone who would pricematch, the first two shot me down as it's not in stock anymore at Fry's. Judging by the thread about it over at the PC building subreddit the odds of success were higher later in the day. I'll switch to a Western Digital HD as you suggest, googled around and saw that Seagates have quality issues sometimes, and WD has an extra year on the warranty.

Do you think the R9 270x is best at that price area?

Done a quick look at techpowerup for the 270x vs the 7950. Both seem to be quite equal at 1080p, but powerconsumption is lower on the 270x.
If you are not planning on going to play on anything higher than 1080p, id say stick with the 270x.

Change the case to the Corsair 200R, which is just over 50 bucks.

    Mucho gracias!

Just found an XFX R9 270X for $159.99, just the CDFC version but still a steal! Some reviews say it's very loud under load, but I doubt I'll be stressing it to that point very much.

This is how it's looking now. Should I maybe get a larger PSU? I've seen a lot of R9 270X reviews saying 500w or more, with emphasis on the "or more"

The onyl thing I'd conceivably change is to change the PSU to either the Rosewill Hive 550 or the XFX 550W Core series, at ~$51.

I'll check them both out for sure. Can I ask why you suggested the Corsair case btw?

Can I ask why you don't want WD black? It would fit your requirement better.

The WD Black 1TB HDD is about $20 more than the WD Blue 1TB HDD. I honestly have no idea what the difference really is, every bit saved is more I can spend on a monitor/keyboard though later on.

Not to mention that you also want to stream. It will be strenuous on all your hardware, not just CPU.

The black doesn't have many advantages over the blue. Especially not as a data drive. I recommended them in the past when SSD prices were twice what they are now , but there's fewer and fewer reasons to get one.

Because the Corsair is arguably the best case at ~$50 you will find. It can accomodate most liquid cooling and the largest GPUs with minimal internal changes.
