that as it's release time as well, so Warcraft was moved.

There's plenty of good actors in the movie, and so far Jones has not really been one
to rely on CGI to make good movies. (Though I bet there will be tons of it.)

Why are people speculating on the date? Isn't it already set to the 11th March 2016?

Because people on this site like to pretend they actually know things despite knowing absolutely nothing at all not even the things that gets posted to the front page including things like the release date for this movie.

Filming all the scenes in a movie doesn't take that long, its the editing, adding in special effects / voice overs and possible re-doing scenes if needed, that takes a while and adds on a lot more time

Not surprised that filming is nearly done, but the WoW movie in general is far from almost ready

At least we know when the expansion for after WoD will be. Spring 2016. I'm guessing that's the burning legion expansion.

Considering how Wod will likely not even be out for another 4-6 months, no. Blizzard releases their games when they think they are ready not to hit certain deadlines.

Yes, there's always that chance, and sometimes there does end up being more filming.

Burning Legion has been the ultimate 'bad guy' in the WoW universe since forever. Old Gods? Meh tied to Azeroth. Titans? Burning Legion is run by a fallen Titan. As I understand it their minions and those they could corrupt pushed for the orc/human war in the first place. I'd be surprised if they never came up in some fashion. My guess is that the WoW movie mentions them as the big bad guy at the very end that set up the war in the first place and that WoD rolls right into the Burning Legion war so people can continue the movie/story in-game.

Can you think of a better tie in?

Or how about this? The movie is its own thing and Wow is its own thing. Amazing how that works. It is a huge franchise and it would be a massive disservice to pidgeon hole it into nothing but Arthas/Burning Legion all the time. There is a lot of story left to tell and a lot of holes to fill where books and games have been lacking.

It'd be a colossal error in marketing coordination to not have an xpac to coincide with the movie release. Just saying.

Warcraft movie, Warcraft game. What is there to coordinate? Both are going to pull in existing Warcraft fans which is the point in addition to maybe getting some new fans.

Oh wait...this is cute. Do you actually think people are going to level to 105-110 in a game they have never played before just because of a movie? Really?

Even people who spend a minimal amount of time on imdb notice movies tend to linger in post production for a long time even when special effects aren't involved.

Math isn't a lot of people's strong suits here. Jan 1 start date would put it at 4 months and a few days. Short of 5 months in 3 weeks. It started end of January so even less than that in 3 weeks.

You don't count the first month - common mistake. Also very common for actual filming to be completed in a short amount of time in a heavily CGI movie. Post production, editing, revisions, reshoots, marketing etc all add loads of time.

I'm an analytics expert IRL. If they don't do it they're leaving money on the table. Not that they care they're sitting on such a mountain of it already, but there is a reason XYZ video game gets released whenever the XYZ movie gets released.

Then you are a terrible analyst. Look Blizzard can't even get Wod out on their own time table what makes you think they can get the next expansion after that out in time for this movie? Come on.

This is probably just me, but I really hope they don't use any big name actors.

Despite its many other flaws I think this is something Lord of The Rings got right,
by avoiding A-list actors it felt more immersive.

It would be much better to get young, hungry actors who can really act into the
lead roles.

My guess this is what every company who has tried to turn their video game into a movie has thought. Hell, who has never heard of Mario Bros lets make it a movie. Final Fantasy was the premier video game brand of its day and the movie nearly ended the Final Fantasy game series by bankrupting Square.

Clearly the movie is done and it is going to hit theaters. The only real question left is how badly it will damage the Warcraft brand, and how many raid tiers it is going to cost?

The Warcraft brand is 15 years old at this point and when the movie releases it will be around 16-17. I'm not sure there is much that can damage it not even a really really really terrible movie. I think certain people here are hoping that is the case though.

CGI will always look fake to me and is the reason i dont like it.

The best special effects are the ones you dont notice and CGI just looks too clean too plastically and has no real grit to it like practical effects does.

Guessing you haven't seen many movies lately.

I did find the Orcs in the Hobbit to look a bit too fake.

But we're also getting Blizzard's cinematic team cooperating in CG design, so I think it's in good hands. It probably won't be as stylized as the Warcraft cinematics, but if they reach that quality it'd be great.

You are so right they like nothing like the Orcs in real life. Oh wait.

In fact I just went to look something up and saw a terrible photo of a cosplay elf and THAT looks more fake than any CGI orc I have ever seen.

Yes. It's an alternative universe story telling of Draenor characters that have nothing to do with the first war between Orcs and Humans..

yeah... not like they were all a part of the first invasion or anthing.. not like khadgar was anywhere near the first war.. not like garona was integral to the downfall of stormwind or anything..

nope none of these characters had anything to do with the first war and just because its draenor of 30 years ago has nothing to do with the movie having draenor of 30 years ago in it as well.

we just happen to be going 30 years into the past meeting the majority of the people from the first war and going on new adventures with them FOR NO REASON.

yeah it totally has nothing to do with introducing the characters that are in the movie or being a tie in to the movie in anyway whatsoever.

if you truly believe that its all just a coincidence then you are pretty foolish

Could be, though Clancy is a strong old man, and Khadgar isn't. Plus, Khadgar was a
young man right before this all occurred, so they might include shots of him getting
cursed. I could see them using old man makeup on a young actor, (or just getting two
guys...)

Vanilla: 2004-2006. Burning Crusade: 2006-2008. Wrath of the Lich King: 2008-2010. Cataclysm: 2010-2012. Mists of Pandaria: 2012-2014. Warlords of Draenor: 2014-2016? So basically, by the time this movie happens, we'll know what's coming after WoD. I'm just excited for the free Digital Deluxe upgrade of expansion 6 coming with my movie ticket.
