need some help

I have the ASRock H81 Pro BTC

I've installed the cpu
attached the cpu fan wire to the mobo
added the atx power from the psu
installed the 280x video card to the mobo and attached it to the psu
installed ram
attached the sata wire from the mobo to the Hard drive

what am I missing?



Turned it on and cpu fan doesn't seem to work. This is a brand new processor and fan.
Edited: I've got the display to work now and it boots up.

But the cpu fan is not working and I'm not sure if I'm damaging the cpu or not.

Are you sure the fan isnt working? Because motherboards shouldn't even start up with fan that doesnt run unless you manually turn the warnings off.

Do you have the 8-pin ATX power connector at the top of the motherboard populated? And do you have the CPU fan plugged into CPU Fan1?

Did you install both 24 and 8 pin's to mobo?

yes I installed both the 24 and 8 pins to mobo. I have the cpu fan plugged into the 4 pin cpu fan1.

It's 4 pin cable in a 4 pin connector? Also you sure it's in the right pins? Especially if you have 3 pin cable in 4 pin connector it's possible to insert it wrong with tiny bit of extra force.
