We can define their obligation to be whatever we damn well please, if they are to retain our business. That's part of what being a free consumer is about -- being able to dictate what is required to get our money.

Of course, saying they have an obligation, and proving they did (by quitting if they fail to measure up) are different things.

No, you can't. You're just misusing the word obligation. If they were obligated, they'd be in breach of contract for not providing it, and you'd have legal measures to force them, rather than just leaving.
