The assumption is based on the fact that, except for resilient species like Tardigrades, most life requires certain environments to live in. A global flood is a massive environmental upset (no, the ocean is not as simple as "it's all water").

Also, keep in mind that the flood lasted some ridiculous length like 1 year if you tally up the durations in Genesis (and at the very least 150 days). You're asking for species to survive through a huge environmental disruption for a year.
That and there wouldn't be any plant life for the herbivores to feed on, thus killing off all the food for the carnivores. All that inbreeding, too... A global flood would kill almost everything off, and the species that lived wouldn't be alive for long.

Not knowing how something works, does not automatically make it supernatural.

By your logic, tornadoes were supernatural events 200 years ago. That's obviously untrue.

Anyone else spot the glaring leap in logic here?

since all natural things began with the origin and therefore no natural thing could have been the cause.
Assumes a) a view of time that is linear as we perceive it. b) a beginning c) assuming you're talking about the Big Bang, that's only a theory for the creation of the current universe.

Oh ok, so then that part of your post was utterly meaningless? Why would killing almost all marine life somehow be a problem?

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions, not really basing this off of hard evidence. Lots of "Ya but-"s. Maybe if the flood went down exactly how you would want to think it did, but all we really know is that it was a global flood, and how exactly it went down is not a known fact.

Well, no, all we really know is that the global flood myth is a myth that tells us more about how humans think than it does about natural history.

The only religion that stands out is Evangelical Christian. Most don't care outside of that at least for religion. I don't like that. Atheism isn't a religion but they are just not understood. It's a lot like Gays and Lesbians 10 to 20 years ago. On top of that though, we have loud mouth Atheists who seem of their rocker parading around, making it worse.

Since this thread seems permenantly derailed into discussing religion rather than the original article, this thread seems to have stayed open long enough.
