Smile Looking for computer build for Wildstar

Hello all, I'm looking to upgrade from my current gaming laptop (alienware 14) to a desktop with a bit more oomph.

My goal for this computer is to be able to run 40 mans in wildstar while maintaining 50+ fps, if possible in the budget.

I have $1000-$1500 to play with.

I have a TV I can use as a monitor at the moment, resolution is 1360x768. I would be looking into buying a new dedicated computer monitor later, but consider this outside the budget, and if you could just give me a link to a good ~30 inch monitor, that would be amazing.

I generally only game on my pc other than use the internet.

I have a mouse, and a keyboard that I -could- salvage, but its not the greatest and would be open to another one if it were good for the price.

    United states (ohio)

I'll need a copy of windows too. Are people still recommending 7 over 8.1?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Edit: Just to help out a bit, these are the wildstar recommended specs. To be clear, I want to exceed these to ensure a steady high fps in large group content.

OS: Vista 64 bit or better
    CPU:Intel® Core™ i5 Quad Core 2.66GHz or better, AMD Phenom™ II X4 3GHz, or better
Graphics Card: Radeon® HD 5830, or better
    RAM: 8gb
    Screen Resolution: 1900x1080

the psu is cheap as hell right now so go and get it asap.

    Monitor suggestion:

    Asus PB238Q 23.0" ~$200
    Dell P2414H 23.8" ~$230

    I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than 23-24" for 1080p. Next step up would be a 27" 1440p:

Perfect Pixel 27" QNIX QX2710 $380 (DVI only)
    Asus PB278Q 27.0" $470

However if you opt for a 1440p monitor expect to at least bump the GPU to a 290, 290x or GTX 780. ~$400-550

    Mouse and Keyboard:

Microsoft SIDEWINDER X4 $50 fairly cheap, solid, anti-ghosting, few extra keys, red LED.

    Logitech G400s $43
    Logitech G500s $55
    Mionix NAOS 8200
    Func MS- 3 Revision 2
Corsair Vengeance M95 $65 (if you're looking for something with extra keys, MMO style)

    I really like that case.

For gaming it's not worth the price jump.

8GB is more than enough. However 1866MHz is the sweet spot for price/performance.

Yes either build would work with this. However, remember the case is HUGE. You really don't need a $100+ full tower for your needs.

the 650W should be able ro run two cards but for a little extra headroom perhaps bump that to a 750W unit:

    SeaSonic G-750 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular

Assuming you are going with Notarget's build, 2x R9 280X, that 650W is going to be run abit short with everything on full load at the same side.then yes you need a more powerful psu.
I would reckon the following, they are in cheaper to more expensive order:
    EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B BRONZE 750W 80+ Bronze 83.69$
    SeaSonic G-750 750W 80+ Gold Certified 89.99$
    Antec HCG M 750W 80+ Bronze Certified 99.99$

Damn Notarget beat me to it

    I literally do not understand...
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nhP9t6 says total is 1617.69 before discounts... And the after discount price of the 3 checkouts I need total 1839.9 with free shipping options taken..... Is pcpartpicker broken? At 1839, I'm more likely than not just going to buy a prebuilt....

I have the money ready to go in my account, all 3 checkout pages open (amazon, ncix, newegg).

Don't know much about PCPartPicker to be able to tell you why it's doing that, but I do want to mention that if you choose to go prebuilt, you'll likely regret it. There is always the option to turn down some of the things you have that aren't needed, but no matter how you figure it, you'll never get a build of that quality for the same price in a prebuilt. Hopefully someone can explain the PCPartPicker problem for you, but i'd recommend backing down on some parts before switching over to prebuilt on any given day.

Are you counting the rebates when figuring up the costs in the checkout carts? Could be the difference.

    Yes.

I just found out why, I had my monitor on both Newegg's checkout, and amazon's.. I'm an idiot.

lol happens to the best of us. I just didn't want to see you go and get a pre built without at least just being honest with you. You tend to get cheap PSU's, cheap parts, and locked CPUs going that route while also not really saving any money. Building your own ensures every part is up to your standards.

I could never settle for a pre built at this point.

Glad to see you figured it out though. Good luck on getting it all together and hope its everything you were hoping for. This type of upgrade is usually pretty exciting lol.

    Did you order it yet?

You DO NOT want to build a rig for Wildstar and have an AMD card.

Both camps run like crap with Wildstar, but Nvidia currently runs miles better. This is coming from someone owning a R9 280x / GTX 670M
    i7-6700k 4.2GHz | Gigabyte GTX 980 | 16GB Kingston HyperX | Intel 750 Series SSD 400GB | Corsair H100i | Noctua IndustialPPC
    ASUS PB298Q 4K | 2x QNIX QH2710 | CM Storm Rapid w/ Reds | Zowie AM | Schiit Stack w/ Sennheiser HD8/Antlion Modmic

    Armory

Yeah CheezusCrust is right, I didn't know at the time but apparently Wildstar has major issues with AMD GPU's, I'm sure it'll get fixed via drivers eventually but not right this second. Sorry it's hard to remember each specific topic when there has been several Wildstar topics.

Im not sure how it is, but im playing it with a 7970 @ 1440p and I think all the settings turned to max (except for some AA settings, will check in a sec). Altho, some settings only go till normal...

Anyway, it plays smooth. Have had some small fps drops. Then again, Im only lvl 6 so with 40 man raids I guess it would be safer to get a Nvidia card.

Are you SURE that the motherboard works with the new case that I mentioned? I'm attempting to build it right now, and the screw holes in the motherboard do not align with the standoffs on the case, and there is no hole to change where the standoffs are.

So what mobo and case you ended up with?
