Hey, I am currently going back to school for CS and I need help deciding on a laptop that is right for me. A few things I am trying to be mindful of:
1) At are below $1000 US
2) I would prefer a 1920x1020 screen, but anything above 1600x900 would be fine.
3) I will be carrying it a lot so would prefer something under 5ish pounds.
4) I will also be on campus a lot so a good wifi is a must.
5) At least 4GB of RAM - will not be playing games other than maybe hearthstone or something small so integrated chip is fine
6) Would prefer a battery that could last me most of a day, although there are certainly places to plug in so it doesn't have to last 9 hours or something.
7) I am unsure just how good SSD is since I have never had one.
8) 13.3" screen minimum as I dont want to hunch over trying to look at the screen.
I would appreciate any feed back yall could give me, thanks.
Bump the CPU up to i5-4200M, Display to 1600x900, 9 Cell 99.9Wh battery.
You'll be solid for a long while with school work/casual gaming.
Other people would maybe suggest you something with a graphics card, but that just creates extra weight/heat for the sake of gaming when you actually want to game at the school.
By CS do you mean Creative Suite? If so then you can purchase some extra RAM for the laptop, install it for yourself and save some cash. Will also leave an extra slot if you actually want to upgrade it to 16GB at some point, but I doubt you'll need more than 8GB. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-12...rds=8GB+sodimm
