What if he already has the pet focused? Doesn't matter if you rename it to a player name then unless his macro /focuses the unit name and prioritizes Player over Pet units.

Why would people bop pets?

So they can freecast on thok.

Cause they can't attack when boped and unlike players, cannot cancel the bop by a simple right click or macro. The pet has to wait out the duration of the bop while the hunter twiddles his fingers and the paladin laughs.

I had to resort to not summoning a pet till 2s on pull timer to counter killmour's BoP's

The problem with lone wolf is that both specs which can use it are(in current numbers) weaker than BM
With SV getting constantly nerved

I was so happy to hear of LoneWolf and now I am forced to play BM - damn I hate that specc - fucking buggy pet :-(
