    This is such a shame. He brightened many a friday night I spent watching comedy on the BBC back in the day.

    I'm grew up in America, but my parents loved British comedy. We watched a lot of it when I was growing up so Black Adder, Monty Python and other shows were mainstays and I begged them to take me to Drop Dead Fred opening night even though I was 8.

    Really hate seeing such historic and prolific people pass away, used to love watching Bottom as a kid, Rik was a comedy genius and only in his 50's, that is such a shame.

    Sad news indeed, remember watching The Young Ones , Bottom , The New Statesman and Drop Dead Fred growing up.
