Human models for gear...

Do they start with humans on their gear models, or is that just what MMOC starts with? Because humans look absolutely stupid no matter what gear they're in. Maybe it's just a way to give people hope that it will look better on literally EVERY other race? /shrug

Considering the last 3 expansions have been pretty much Horde and Orc Oriented and you are complaining because they use a human male in the model showing the new tier gear, give me a break, seriously horde and orcs should never complain again about anything.

i think the blues said they do them on humans since they are the most "neutral" body types to show case. works for some sets not all

I think it's just the default race/gender the modelviewer thing they use goes to. That,
and you can typically see the armor best on human males (detail-wise,) and I think
Blizz used male humans as their typical base for most sets for the same reason.

All items are created on Humans first, then they tweak it to fit each race. This is because male humans are the only race/gender with neutral poses which all models display properly on.

The other races and genders all squash, stretch, deform or conceal the items they wear to some degree.

They just use humans because they are the "average", I think. As in, they're kinda in the middle of everything in terms of size and features.

No, they do not. I am not exactly sure about details but gear appearance between races is definitely algorithmic. They do not "tailor" it with hand.

From productivity, software engineering, bla bla pov, they have to automate it. You would lose so much time while trying fit same gear to different races. I bet they design it using humans since they have a good good shape to catch details of gear

Looking at how much gear currently clips wierd on tauren, trolls and a lot of other races, I doubt that. I doubt it very much.

Helms often need to be adjusted manually, but yes, the rest is mostly automatic.
