Can a cherry not dissolve through saliva?

I've just been developing this habit. If you leave a strawberry in your mouth long enough without chewing the temperature and saliva would slowly dissolve the fruit, and you'd get the taste slowly but nicely. With a cherry it feels like you're sucking on tasteless rubber and the skin never, ever seems to just melt off. It's been an hour with me and one cherry, and there have been no changes.

So does a cherry never dissolve in your mouth or does it simply take a lot of time? If it doesn't, why?

The skin on a strawberry is much thinner than on a cherry. The strawberry doesn't really dissolve, the heat from your mouth just makes the inner pulp softer which causes the thin skin to fall apart from moving around in your mouth.

Its not only cherry. I can think of at least one more thing that has skin and when you put it in mouth, it will never dissolve. But that is another subject, i guess.

Anyway as someone stated, to thick skin on cherry, so the inside might "melt" if you break the skin, but the skin it self will probably never do so.

Because I'm sure he sits there for hours a day and does nothing at all but dissolve fruit in his mouth, right? Just staring at the floor, forgetting about work, family, or whatever, and not doing it while playing a game or basically doing anything else. I did once hear of people who can do more than one thing at a time though, such as walking AND talking, or holding something in their mouth while they do other things.

Lol, exactly what I wanted to post. To him this is probably similar to Einstein finally cracked the theories of relativity. Like he finally found the ultimate fruit, one that does not dissolve in the mouth.
He is now looking for a way to market this discovery. Patent pending of course!

Depends on the stone, granite is ok but flint is a bit rough on the roof of my mouth.

Saliva doesnt have such strong solvant properties. It loosens up stuff. THe one thing saliva can disolve is fructose. Sugar just disappears in your mouth in any form.

Strawberries are a lot softer, without any kind of protective skin around them. They also easily melt. Cherries, have a thicker outside skin and will not melt.
Leave a strawberry where it's too warm, and it'll become a mushy goo.

I reckon most fruit skins like the one on cherries are only digested by the stumach acids. Some of them aren't even disolved there. While corn isn't a fruit, I do know that your stumach cannot disolve the skin on the corn.
