I am currently Subbed to WoW and are testing the waters with Wildstar aswell. Its dirt cheap entertainment anyways. 15$(or less since I pay 6 months at the time) for a month is less than an hour work to get my monthly sub.

Here we go again. The usual blabla about fantasy based server capacity. EvE runs on a cluster of servers and has a complete different approach than the classical fantasy based MMO's running realms.

If you don't have a 3D surface with landscapes to play on like EVE it is not too difficcult to see the difference.

The hardware limits for these kinds of 3D MMO's with REAL landscapes hover around 3-4K concurrent users per server .... OR ... you wouldn't move much with the avatars ...

The only exception is connected realm play with phasing like WoW introduced some time ago and the same phasing technique was used in TES, but Wildstar uses the traditional server set up.

Pretty well documentated and so the 22 server capacity of Wildstar pretty much limits its total player number at 250 K atm of which 80k concurrently.

Learn about these server things first before talking the usual garbage.

Fact remains WS has far less number of capacity and servers than new MMO's launched 5-6 years ago.

The fact they sell at 39.99 Euro and have opened up free 7 day play for everyone one week after launch tells everything else really.

So the volume is very low for a new MMO and as will be seen, it won't last long as a subscription based game, so like I stated, the dual subscription options are pretty much insignificant in total numbers anyway.

The last BIG subscription MMO that launched was SWTOR and we all know what that became after a mere 10 months: f2p for the biggest Lore ever created.

I am currently subbed to both but I don't really play WoW all that much lately. I am burned out of the current content. I am waiting for the pre xpack patch and keeping it open in case I get into the beta.

Wildstar is a lot of fun actually. I am playing a Medic but I am only level 10 or so. I am taking my time and I actually like the combat system so far. We'll see if it gets old because I can see that happening. If you are wondering if you should give Wildstar a chance, I think you should. I was adamant about never playing it because I thought it didn't look very good in the videos I watched, but now I am actually really liking it. It's not better than wow but it is pretty good.

I'm playing wildstar because I've been on farm since nov 1 and we 1 night clear. I don't have a reason to log into wow after tuesday so I've been looking for other games to occupy my time until WoD.

Why stay subbed to wow if that's the case? Because guilds don't hold themselves together.

Our guild placed a temporary stop to official raids due to attendance issues , but this is common in the end of expansion where players need new content and its not being delivered fast enough out of our 30 players who raids including rotating people who sit only 2 of them are playing Wildstar. so the game itself is not our issue its the fact people are burnt out on SoO.

we should pick back up in 6.0 when the people return for those heirlooms

I am, only because I was dumb enough to keep my 6 month sub rolling lol (I was still raiding when it last rolled on).

It is due to renew in August and I doubt I will still be playing Wildstar then.

I'm still subbed to wow because we are still raiding 9/14H. I am in love with Wildstar though, 50 esper/20 warrior atm.

Unsubbed from WoW in order to play Wildstar. As much as I love the game, WoW always has a high chance to pull me from any game. I blame it on addiction, because nothing else could justify going back to a game that leaves us with no content for such long periods of time and isn't really doing anything original. I've invested almost a third of my life playing WoW...it's pretty serious business. But Wildstar is some special stuff. Won't have two subscriptions, but I'll probably bounce around.

I was curious because I have seen a lot of people remarking in Wildstar that they are cancelling their wow accounts because Wildstar is really doing it for them. This is not a knock at wow at all but Wildstar really is fucking great.

I let my WoW sub lapse for the time being. I am playing Wilstar right now, its ok but WoW is clearly the better game. I will be resubbing WoW once WoD is released.

A lot of people will think Wildstar is better then it actually is while they are leveling and having fun in a fresh new game. Once they hit level cap and realize that they are barred from most of the games end game content unless they become "hardcore", they are not going to have quite as high opinion of the game after that.

WoW has something for everyone, Wildstar gives a big middle finger to casual players (after the questing experience is done... the questing experience is definately easier then all other aspects of the game in order to get players invested and then bait and switch them)

The problem with WoW Clones, is that once you dig in past the novelty of a "new" game and setting, you realize that it plays and feels just like WoW (and in Wild Star's case, the graphics seem to look quite close from the screenshots I've seen).

The problem with this, is that WoW players have a lot of time invested in their WoW characters; they're not going to want to give that up very easily. I've been playing since Vanilla and I've done a lot of things in WoW. If I'm to play another MMORPG, it needs to have a large selling point, some reason why I'm playing it and WoW at the same time.

Otherwise, it'll feel like I'm doing another WoW character rather than an entirely different game.

And such is why most WoW Clones fail horribly. If you're going to make a WoW Clone, you need to make something innovative or something different about the game that sets it apart from WoW.

FFXIV:ARR did this by using a very complex crafting system (much more complex than WoW's), and its existing Final Fantasy franchise lore/huge fanbase, while keeping a playstyle familiar to WoW players, along with the fact you can change your class anytime.

Wild Star needs to do the same if it is going to actually survive.

Neither of those 2, I heard bad impressions regarding wildstar.

I had fun during the Wildstar beta but I don't know.. Something about the game didn't convince, something is missing for me.

My guild has 5 raid teams, all doing heroics, so WoW is still keeping us busy, but most of the people who've downed heroic garrosh are playing Wildstar and seem to be having fun.

Neither. You should of made a poll.

Yeah I used to think that too, but it's simply not true. The amount of progression you can get in a solo to small group setting is tremendous. Not to factor housing which is leagues beyond any games housing, adventures, and that you can actually use dungeons as a means of progression again....WoW just doesn't have this stuff. There's also the fact that they said they would add regular content progression through story instances and whatnot that we haven't even seen yet. I think you're being a little hasty personally...and I love WoW too.

FFXIV does not have a complex crafting system. It can be macrod to perfection. Wildstar actually does have a non macroable system that requires thought and discovery. Not to mention their housing. Not to mention plenty of other things. Honestly, WoW and Wildstar combined have cornered the market on pretty much every major feature from casual to niche and do them all better than every other game.

Lol, seriously man, that is a crock of shit. There is a shit ton of end game in wildstar and people throw around hardcore like they know something, hardly
