[LORE][possible spoilers] Help me understand the situation with meetra surik

I've beaten kotor 2 several times but still confused, i know she was a jedi who went with revan to help in the mando wars, then revan and the others turned to the darkside and she just kinda became a 'void in the force' but did that wipe her memory? how did she go from that to a random person on a mining station with kriea and 0 memory? did the jedi council wipe her memory?

I played kotor 2 as a guy though because I found the whole love triangle with disicple and atton to be very triggering for my depression.

It was never really explained. She severed her own connection to the force, got the boot, and basically disappeared until the start of Kotor:2.

It's explained. The destruction unleashed at Malachor caused so much pain and suffering that she cut herself off from the Force. But more than that, the massive-scale death plus her ability to naturally form bonds with people made her a living "wound" in the Force. This is what Kreia found so appealing, because she thought the Exile was a glimpse of a galaxy where the Force didn't exist.

She didn't actually lose her memory. She just forced herself to forget (no pun intended). This can happen to people with PTSD.

Much of the game/storyline is an allegory to what war (particularly prolonged war) does to otherwise good people and free societies (similar to what happens in the Clone Wars, but KOTOR 2 handles the theme better). Basically, no one can trudge through hell unscathed, and no democracy can survive perpetual war.

Hey I like playing Kotor 2 with exile being a guy, is it okay to play with exile as a guy or do we pretty much have to play exile as a girl since she was declared a girl?

Maybe make his name Suriko meetri but I rather use my real personal name.

It's a single player game - do whatever you want.

My Revan is always a girl.

fantastic synopsis of the plot, man, its been long.
and yeah revan and exile are always male in my games. and their name is always Max Power.

Canon wise, Revan is male and The Exile is female. I always played them how I felt on the first good round then canon on the second.

Of course, with Disney basically declaring the movies and Clone Wars series as the only canon stuff in the SW Universe, who knows.

Honestly, if BioWare rolls with this, it's the best possible thing to happen to the game. They'll no longer be bound by canon and will have a lot more freedom to create their own lore to support gameplay. Because I'm still not sure what the lore of the game is that allows for FFA PvP on Ilum, as I'd imagine Jedi wouldn't be killing other Jedi, Imperial troopers wouldn't be at odds with each other etc., but there it is in the game.

I doubt Disney cares about much of anything that happens before the movies, so I think they'll be in the clear to remain canon in the old republic era.

Respectfully, the Disney release about SW canon appears to disagree with you. All previous EU material has been re-branded as Star Wars:Legends and is considered non canon while the previous movies, Clone Wars show, and new movies and books coming from Disney are official canon.

I understand that, but unless they actually make a new product set in this time period (aka overwriting it) it's just as good as canon. The same way that if they don't overtly overwrite something in the movie time period, the Legends stuff still happened. That's basically the point of the label - they're not bound to use old material, but that doesn't mean the content is useless unless they explicitly contradict it.

So all the SWTOR storylines now are non-cannon and part of "Legends" or are they still a cannon?

  13. #13
    Non-canon.

It's just that if they are never officially overwritten, there's no reason to assume they didn't happen.

It doesn't matter because NONE of SWTOR is cannon. So that game based on story doesn't matter. Thank Disney.

Why doesn't it matter? I mean, it's still Star Wars. I'm confused as to why something being non-canon, but well written and not flying in the face of canon, somehow makes it irrelevant.

On the canon/non-canon subject, these games are technically non-canon now, but practically canon, because they don't contradict anything else, largely due to the fact they take place thousands of years in the past.

SWTOR being non canon is a good thing from my perspective. BioWare has more freedom with the story and galactic war now, instead of being constrained by canon. I doubt they'd radically alter the Sith Empire losing and disappearing, but maybe the war will be drawn out and the Empire will last longer in the SWTOR story lines.
