    OP asked which branch of German army used this armour, correct answer: they didn't use this armour at all. The coat already was covered somewhere above, but that's it. And gas mask is always optional, not a single army would force their soldiers to wear (equipped on their face, not wear it on their waist, which is common for some branches) a gas mask as part of their uniform.
