Need a new motherboard for this:

    Base Model: HP h8-1234

CPU (AMD, FX-6120, speed 3.5 GHz (up to 4.1 GHz turbo) 6 core processor
    Motherboard (Gigabyte, M3970AM-HP (Angelica2), AMD 970)
    RAM (10GB, DDR3-1600, Speed: PC3-12800 MB/sec (runs as PC3-10600 in this system)
Graphics Card: Galaxy GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2 GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDMI/DVI/VGA SLI Ready Graphics Card, 65NPH7DN7WGU Graphics Cards 65NPH7DN7WGU

Power Supply (Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus - 700W Power Supply
    )

    Operating System --- Win 7 Home Premium x 64
    Resolution 1920x1080
WoW Settings (AA, Shadows, View Distance, Spell Effects...etc)

Recommendations? Is it worth the new MB, or just rebuilding. She says her budget is around $700. I think that is assuming if she had to rebuild. She just got a GTX780 Ti GPU, I'm thinking new CPU/MB.

I looked it up a little more, it was bought from BestBuy about 1.5 years ago. It has a 650Ti, she bought the 780Ti to replace the 650.

I am not sure why either your sister/gf or your collegue need to replace their mobos. Why do they think they need to replace them? Did they break down?

Original post, she added the 780Ti to the computer, she said the computer choked.
She is allocating money to build an entirely new computer.

Guy at work, doesn't have the funds atm, so is just looking for a motherboard.
Just the basic info I was given.

The last few weeks, a friend of mine would turn his computer on and wouldn't have use of the keyboard/mouse. The next day all would be fine. Its been back and forth the last few days hes told me. The new thing is the computer will load up and he would get a black screen stating his shit isn't loading, insert another disk.

I am going to check his boot drive this afternoon. The KB / mice issues, bad Motherboard?

He took it to BestBuy and they basically said to replace the motherboard. Asking around here, another mentioned the same thing, that the southbridge is going which affects the ports on the back of the MB.

Its a bit tricky with pre-build brand pc's like that. He will most likely have to replace the mobo with exactly the same one, cause the cases have stand off's etc made for that model exactly. Both systems seem to have the same mobo even tho your collegue has a different model.

If you can build a pc would be better for her, personally i wouldn't waste money on pre-build brands like that, but thats just me.
For refference, 700$ you could build something like the following (given she got the 780ti already):

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($118.99 @ Amazon)

If you need a cheap o/s you can get a Win8.1 64bit key for $25 here.
You can verify that key with Microsoft tool
Downloaded the image and mount it with the USB tool

I just got up and had a message from my friend that has the $700 budget to build.

"Apparently we only use AMD - lol "
These are his recommendations, with a choice of 3 motherboards.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

    CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($112.98 @ OutletPC)
    Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($114.99 @ Newegg)
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($74.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ Newegg)
    Total: $382.95
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

other motherboards outlined in the email:
    Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($89.99 @ Micro Center)
    Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($78.98 @ OutletPC)

I did facepalm. Husbands words "We are Intel fanboys, AMD is the way to go" I am passing your thoughts to her, now.

    Ok, Ill accept his opinions.

Friend just looking to replace the motherboard, I mentioned the same thing. I didn't look too much into it, but the quick linking I did, took me to Ebay for that MB.

    I appreciate the help!
