I disliked Cata because while the old world revamp was nice and all, it was obvious that was where 75-80% of their effort for the xpack went and for those of us swimming in max level alts, it meant a lot of nothing to do. I did like the theme of Cata better than MoP's theme though.

I both like and dislike the revamped 1-60 zones. I liked it because some of the new zones are really well done, cool characters, cool stories, cool ideas, but I also disliked it somewhat after a while because of how all the original zones are now gone.

I dont see how that was unlike BC, WotLK and even MoP.

I do agree with the lack of content on top of content getting cut was shitty all around, but overall I felt like many of the grinds was gutted which while for me was great didnt do so well for those who burn through content so fast and contributed to a large chunk of complaints.

At least Cataclysm had LFR, it's one saving grace.

I also disliked that for a long period, you were expected to run NOTHING but ZA/ZG (the other dungeons gave less than half of the rewards of those two, so noone did them). Seriously, a huge pool of two heroics to choose from. It was awful. The dungeon situation was only partially fixed with the 3 Dragon Soul heroics came out in patch 4.3.

I did not hate the "difficult" heroics at the beginning...on the contrary, I found them to be quite enjoyable in a guild group (LFD was another matter).
So much this bolded part. He's an elemental lord...and for some reason he just gets one crap dungeon for himself. Please.

The difficult heroics at the start were the best thing about Cata.

    i didnt dislike cata.

    Goblins? Cool.
    Worgens? Even cooler.

    Vashj'r? Awesome.

    Archaeology? Nice.

    Revamp? yes/no

    Flying in azeroth? best.thing.ever.

the only huge dissapointment was the final part of DS where you defeat Deathwing. Fighting his claws was gay.
There was no such thing as "ability bloat" just l2fp.

    Fixed it for you, mate.

In cata... Even if you were in full t10, the first blue items are way better than anything from wrath.

OK, that was to "level the field", but imho destroyed the incentive to work for stuff and gear.

But the thing that I disliked most in Cata was the lore. The fan favorite Thrall (there WAS a reason why Horde players were so passionate about defending Thrall in Orgrimmar for Alliance raid, more passionate for him than for any other faction leader ever) became "green Jesus", and replaced by douchebag Garrosh. Sylvanas and the Forsaken became "always chaotic evil", and Deathwing was just brute force with no personality. And since Deathwing was "foreshadowed" as a big bad since Vanilla (Ony & Nefarian were end-game villains in vanilla, in TBC we discovered that Deathwing indeed WAS alive, in Wrath we discovered the twilight drakes... and in the end... we got spine + madness crap )

I hated cata for the simplification of character progression and for what an absolute joke Dragonsoul was.
    Everything is awesome -sings-

What I didn't like about Cata were primarily the follow-up raids Firelands and Dragon Soul. Too few bosses (7 and 8, hell that's one more boss than SoO alone has, what were they thinking), messy and badly executed mechanics (Alyzrazor, Ryolith, Ultraxion, Spine of DW to name only the most obvious), bad placement of far too strong nerfs.

The rest I can forgive while it certainly wasn't the best expansion over all, but the way they handled raiding in this xpac almost convinced me that they've already moved resources to a successor MMO and had only the bare minimum left for WoW content development.
Turns out they were doing a 180 during MoP and with WoD as it looks so far. That's why we should never interpret too much into what we see.

That I think is absolutely OK, while not explicitly necessary, but in the end you're supposed to become stronger when you go into a new content, which is contradicted by wearing your old gear too long. Whether that happens after 1 or 3 levels doesn't really matter, but you shouldn't be able to profit from old gear way into the new content. Having people raid Naxx in T6 was utterly ridiculous. After all the release of a new xpac is the only time in 2 - 3 years when everyone is on even grounds for a short time and you don't need to carry underequiped players.

Your rights as a consumer begin and end at the point where you choose not to consume, and not where you yourself influence the consumed goods.

Translation: if you don't like a game don't play it.

Well part of the move away was an attempt to level the playing field along with players in t6 doing Naxx2.0 and effectively skipping the gearing up process. I still had some T5 pieces due to stats and gems. MoP did the same thing as Cata and Blizzard intends to continue to follow with WoD with the exception being heirlooms and maybe the cloak. It is a new expansion and developers want characters to replace their gear.

I really liked the 5man Heroic difficulty. But I guess they should have improved the quality of the loot a bit. in the LFD tool a few heros were pretty hard if not nearly impossible, but I am ok with that, not every heroic dungeon has to be cleared easily from 5 random people with zero communication. (And I played Holypriest at the start of Cata)

Hell in some places you can't even travel through it any more because of broken bridges/floods/fissures.

The whole of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms are literally ruined; every place you go is just smashed and broken, it looks horrible. Blizzard really didn't think it through when they decided shatter the world. Even years after the expansion we're still stuck with all this ruined crap, and we probably always will be.
This is perhaps the biggest issue I have with the shattering (aside from it unnecessarily happening in the first place). It's been nearly four years now, and we're coming up to two expansions past this whole "event." We're still stuck with almost every zone still being freshly torched by Deathwing and a lot of quests that (as someone else pointed out) focused on the original lore of the zone are all replaced with "FIX WHAT DEATHWING DID."

You're right though, they probably will never again update the 1-60 experience, which means we'll be stuck with this DeathwingJUSTNOWtorchedazeroth shit forever. Blizzard should have known better than this.

I hate Cata and MoP for the samething. The last tier patch for the expansions sucks ass and downtime for one year + is bullshit

The first and second tier of cata where at least good enough to enjoy playing the game

plus heroic dungeons on cata launch were fucking great, with BWD being the best raid that tier

  16. #56
Yeah, the only real things I dislike about Cataclysm are the seemingly arbitrary bits of destruction. Big random hole in Westfall, big random hole in Stranglethorn, big random hole in Stormwind, big random hole in Barrens, big random hole between Loch Modan and Badlands, big random hole in Darkshore, waterlogged Thousand Needles, (which is kinda cool), waterlogged pirate island in Northrend. It's almost as if Blizzard put a big map of Azeroth on the wall and threw Deathwing darts at it and said "we'll do shit where they land."

Cata brought some good, some bad. My opinions:

    I hate old world change

I loved end times, should have been a raid. I didn't like DS, but Firelands was cool. Tot4W was cool, BWD and BoT were ok.

    The dailies suckedddddddd

Fuck phasing and the goddamn combat bug that existed forever (I main rogue)

TB was fun, had some epic pvp moments during dailies there.. definitely helped that it was the peak of my server almost 50/50 ratio before it died and joined the rest with massive horde bias. The raid was cool as well, good for pvp and pve gear iirc... rarely saw PuG fail in it.

    Transmog is awesome

I hate the massive stat increase

I hate green jesus and GO'ELLLLLLLL, in fact I didn't like much of any lore in Cata... some was ok but most was wtf. Specifically Deathwing being this retarded ass giant dragon that I really don't even care to fight or see much of through the expansion. Sure the old world was destroyed but I was pissed at Blizz for that, not DW.

The new zones were alright but most of the quests were just grindy same ol', I loved Uldum and its affiliated dungeon for its scenery and feel. I don't hate the route Blizz took with the entire place pretty much being a joke in terms of lore because I still enjoyed it but do sympathize that it had much, much more potential.

Anywhooo.... I can't think of anything else off the tip of my hat but I am sure there is much more that Cata brought, or wrought lol..

Edit: remembered one more thing.. the daily quest bugs in TB that took Blizz eons to fix! Anyone remember the stupid ass gnome escort daily out of the jail? I think it was a tauren for horde.. omg that was horrible.

yeah it's a shame what they did to the old world, it's ugly now and full of comic crap

back in the day we had epic storylines that sent us across the world, the world was beauitiful not full of ugly lava crap ugh.. cataclysm.. the destroyer indeed

i don't recall teh heroics being difficult. a little cc was required for trash. some bosses were hard like that big guy in black rock but they weren't that difficult. the problem was the queues made things abominable and healer mana issues. they were a nice reprieve though from face roll.

i still can't get over how they messed up this new world they made by making us fly through it. what the hell was the point? so stupid.

I liked the questing and cataclysm and what it did to old world. Also the raids were very enjoyable apart from DS.
