So I went to see the 4th of July fireworks..

They were actually on the 5th, since it rained on the 4th so my township rescheduled for the next day. Went to the beach as I do pretty much every year with my friends and girl. The place was packed. We get a lot of out of towners in my area since a lot of people have vacation homes around here.

Suddenly, I look up and there's this kid, not more then 10-11 years old walking up and down the beach with the full sized Tea Party "Don't Tread On Me" flag held up high and singing My Country Tis A Thee and wearing a kevlar helmet. Yeah, a freaking Kevlar helmet that was oversized. He had on a T-shirt with Obama's face on it with some writing which I couldn't quite make out. The kid's voice was cracking and you could tell he didn't want to be doing this and was embarrassed.

Seriously, fuck his parents. Yes you're entitled to your political beliefs, but don't have your fucking pre-high school kid making "your" political statement for you and make him look like an idiot in front of hundreds of people. A kevlar helmet, really? As someone who was in the army, if you aren't wearing the correct size, it's extremely uncomfortable and can really strain your neck walking around in minutes because of the weight. They're about 4-5 pounds. The thing was gigantic on this kid. What pissed me off is that I saw his parents when I went to get ice cream, and they were sitting on their blanket the whole time while the kid walked the beach back and forth the entire fireworks display. He didn't even get a chance to sit and watch them since he walked by for the 5th or 6th time during the grand finale at the end, and the beach is about a half mile long.

    Ugh.. /end rant

That kid is lucky, his parents are patriots. Don't worry he'll grow into the helmet.

How did you come to the conclusion they are patriots?

Sounds like they're going a long way toward raising a hardcore Liberal.

    My first thought right here.

Not only shouldn't one push their agendas like this, but come on! It's Independence
Day, let the kid watch the big explosions in the sky. =/
