What has happened?

Logged on the other night for the first time in about 6-8 months. The last time I played was only for like a week to finish the leveling to 80 and that's that. Pretty much haven't played since release or so. Started to explore a bit and saw my map completion was at 98%, so finished that off and while I was grabbing the new POI's and what not. So much has changed. Like Queensdale is all fucked up, Lion's Arch is well ruined.

So while I didn't pay much attention to the lore/story of GW2 while I leveled, seeing all the destruction has peaked my interest. I'm wondering is there lore youtube videos or a site that covers all the changes, why and how it happened?

Basically completely clueless when it comes to lore/story in GW2 since release and want to get caught up.

Make sure to visit Lion's Arch, there's a good bit happening there that hasn't been fully documented yet - the growing corruption of the Lionguard, the mistrust and prejudice against the Sylvari race, the stench of the rotting corpses and pockets of Miasma still around. You can also take the boat to the Labyrinthine Cliffs to pick up some skins, pets or nodes you may have missed from Season 1 (before it gets blown to smithereens next week!)

These videos are good and gave me quite some insight. I took a break for like 1.5 years as well. Last thing I remember was some floating golem and a crazy toymaker. I went back in quite confused initially. First thing that has happened was me getting ported out of the rubble formerly known as Lion's Arch. I still didn't know about the MF change and it was not that I was actually interested initially in it anyway. Anyways been working on world completion finally and now I need to do the WvWvW bits still (*sigh*). A lot has changed but core game seems to be the same, they seemed to be have been light on making sweeping character gameplay changes. At least on Engineer side.

How the storytelling looks for new characters? Will I know what happened before all this events or I will just start in the "new world"?

Going forward, it's hoped the Season One Living Story events will be added in some way to the Story Journal to let you see what happened with them firsthand. Otherwise, you'll just have to catch up with plot summaries on the wiki of the content releases and play forward through Season Two.
