I don't want to spoil anything but just know that there is no Dark Portal anymore some point after Warlords of Draenor starts. Yet it's apparent that travel between this Draenor and our Azeroth is still achievable.

Only this part is understandable that it might happen.

We try to make a new portal to reach Azeroth, but that fails because some Burning Legion influence in the building process. We end up on Argus instead, in the middle of the Burning Legion's region.

And the end game will be about raiding Sargeras for 2 years because too much work was put into the open world and not enough into raid content.

To be honest, I like the idea of exploring an alternate Azeroth. I would love to see a world where Arthas didn't become the Lich King and instead became a great paladin and king, leading all the humans of Azeroth.

IIRC the orcs never called it anything, they just didn't have a concept of there being
other worlds, so why name the one you're on?

We kill the last boss after a long fight lasting a good 20 min using all we have learned since vanilla and then suddenly a cutscene but wait! It's real life and its Chris Metzen waking up from a nightmare in a cold sweat. Turns out Azeroth was just a dream all along. Thanks for playing!

Because we did it by naming our planet Earth. I believe it were the Romans who did that. From the latin word Terra. I mean, we were aware there were stars on the sky, visible at night. Arguably, we did not knew some of them could be planets like our own. It would make sense that we would name the landmass we live in, with a broader term than "region" or "zone".

In game, yes, of course, they can't cut the players from the rest of the world. Lorewise, we are trapped in Draenor. So yeah, next expansion could be about another continent in Draenor, or exploring Azeroth B, but I don't think they want to overdo the Alternate Universe thing, they already said it was their way of bringing the Warlords back, they even thought of revamping Outland and having Garrosh resurrecting them.

We wake up and it was all a dream. Actually that would be nice, because at least 75% of the lore introduced into WoW is pure cancer on the Warcraft series. Gameplay > Lore indeed.
