Massive GFX artifacts. What's going on? Pics inside.

What's going on here? I've been playing BF4 for a few hours. Temps are normal. It looks like something that comes from heat problems.

When I drove over the missing ground, my vehicle and camera shook violently.

This is a sign of a defective GPU even if temps are not high. How old is your video card?

4-5 years now. I've suspected it for quite a while. But it's gotten worse.

Have you already tried reinstalling or updating your drivers to see if that does anything? What are you using? Are you overclocking anything?

Texture stretching is not necessarily a failing GPU. While possible its more likely corrupted files/file structure, Try reinstalling the game, preferably to another location (not on the same hard drive)

Are you overreacting over this happening one time or has this occured a lot of times? To have a failing GPU, this needs to happen in all games you play.

Edit: When GPU is about to break, it usually shows colors all over the screen, almost like a glitching DVI wire.

It' an issue with the game. GPU hardware failing usually doesn't show up in screenshots and looks like colored blocks, vertical or horizontal patterns, and if it's really about to go those symptoms will appear in bios screen too, right after booting.

What gpu and drivers do ? Cause the 320.18 nvidia drivers cause exactly that.

True I have had 2 card fail and the only became apparant when running games, PC booted fine and OS load and worked fine but they were knackered, the manufacture even agreed and replaced them.

One was green and red blocks randomly appearing on the screen in games and the other was green blocks permanently on the screen.

Not every failure is so catastrophic that it shows on the 1at bios screen when booting, they can become apparent when you put any load on the GPU.

But the pic doesn't look like a GPU dying more like a game issue or possibly overheating

Stop mentioning GPU failure and overheating. This is not a hardware issue. This MIGHT be a driver issue or just a Game Glitch which my bet is on.

I experienced that exact same issue in a slightly different location on that same map (Golmud Railway) roughly a month ago. The effect only lasted for a portion of 1 match and then corrected itself and I have not seen it since. I also got the same character/vehicle 'jitters' when traversing the giant column. My money is on an in-game bug or corrupted game file. Personally, I did not update drivers or reinstalled the game and the issue has not been seen since, though this does not necessarily imply that neither of these factors are the root cause. Is this an isolated occurrence or is it happening on a regular basis?

Not necessarily. I had artifacts in WoW, which looked quite similar to the ones the OP had when my 1900 XT died to overheating back in the day.
At certain angles there were massive black or weirdly colored triangles, which went away when the angle changed. I could take screenshots of it too.

However such things occur in ALL GAMES you play if it's your GPU. If it's only BF4 then there is something wrong with your program.

Sorry I forgot to mention triangles. Noticed that usually? The screenshot OP linked had no issues besides specific objects/textures on the image. Hardware issues usually affect whole image rather than specific parts only.

I still think it's the GPU failling. Of course I could be wrong and it could be driver and/or game related but it's somewhat rare. Also the card can look fine under bios and Window and only causes issue in 3d games and some might only cause issues when starting to reach a certain temperature (which doesn't have to be high but is usually higher than idle).

It can easily be a hardware failure. And I personally think it is.

I haven't played bf4 but I have had issues with wow and other things messing up due to a faulty sata cable on my ssd (os+games)
I have since replaced the sata cable and reinstalled everything for good measure and most of the problems went away.
